Former MLB Star Ben Zobrist Has Sued His Pastor For Sleeping With His Wife During Marriage Counseling

Ben “Zorilla” Zobrist is a two-time World Series champion who played for several Major League Baseball teams including the Chicago Cubs, the Oakland Athletics, and the Kansas City Royals. I know, why do we care, right? Because he’s in the middle of suing his pastor for banging his wife, Julianna Zobrist. There it is! We’re back to relevant Dlisted content. He’s filed a lawsuit against pastor Byron Yawn (who went against his last name by getting involved in a cheating scandal) in Nashville and is asking for a combined $6 million in damages for an “inappropriate sexual relationship.” A lawsuit for cheating? Tristan Thompson better watch his back!

Ben and Julianna have been married 15 years and have three kids together, 12-year-old  Zion, 9-year-old Kruse, and 5-year-old Blaise. Yup, that’s the spelling. E! News says that Ben and Julianna went to Pastor Byron as a trusted “spiritual mentor,” and they did pre-marital counseling with him in 2005, and more counseling in 2013 for some issues with “pornography.” E! got hands on the legal complaint, which was actually filed back in May, and in it, Ben claimed that Byron began talking with Julianna “daily” in August 2018 and things soon got sexy:

“Unbeknownst to [Ben], in September 2018, during the time that he was providing pastoral counseling to [Ben], [Byron] also began secret pursuing an intimate relationship with [Ben’s] wife,” the lawsuit reads.

He alleges their “romantic involvement” escalated in the spring of 2019, “when he began meeting her for sex.” Byron and Julianna are accused in the complaint of using “burner phones” to secretly communicate.

Their affair allegedly continued until the spring of 2020, “all the while concealing it from the Plaintiff, his counselee,” per the suit.

In May 2019, Byron’s wife Robin Yawn found a burner phone of his. Robin told Ben that she suspected their spouses were having “an emotional relationship, but nothing physical.” That same year, Ben filed for divorce and stated that Julianna admitted to him that she was regularly fucking their pastor. Pastor Byron and Robin divorced a year later in 2020.

In his lawsuit, Ben is asking for $3 million in compensatory damages and $3 million in punitive damages from Pastor Byron. And like all legal scholars, I Googled whether you can sue for cheating, and you can in several states, but Tennessee is not one of them. But Ben’s case may be more fraud-related because Pastor Byron was supposed to be helping his marriage and not doing his wife:

Ben’s legal team claims that Byron “exploited” his counseling sessions with Ben to “deceptively” encourage the athlete to “give his wife some space.” The lawsuit claims he used the confidential counseling information to “his own self-seeking advantage” and “further cement his illicit relationship” with Julianna.

Byron works as the Senior Pastor and Elder at Community Bible Church but also worked with Ben as the Executive Director of Ben’s organization known as the Patriot Forward Charity. In the lawsuit, Ben also accused Byron of using his job at the charity as an “excuse” to meet Julianna. And while banging Ben’s wife, Byron also asked for an annual salary of $36,000 for work as Executive Director. He was then fired in March 2019, while being paid $3,500 a month. Ben’s lawsuit alleges Byron then continued to “fraudulently” cash out his salary checks until May 2019 “with full knowledge that his position had been terminated.” Oh and also Ben took time off his baseball career to work on his marriage and so he lost out on $8 million of income.

Pastor Byron’s attorney, Chris Bellamy, gave a statement to E! about it and basically said Julianna can slob on Bryon’s knob if she wants:

“At the end of the day, a woman has the right to choose who she wants to be with… We’re in the middle of litigation, so I can’t really comment further at this point, but that’s what it boils down to. My client deserves his day in court and for the truth to be heard, and so we’re going to do that through the court process.”

Pastor Byron should act as a warning to those horny pastors out there who just can’t seem to not dick people down. I’m looking at you, Pastor Carl Lentz! Imagine how much money he’d be on the hook for!
