Usain Bolt Is Now A Father To Twins, And He Absolutely Stuck With The “Bolt” Name Theme
Eight-time Olympic gold medal-winning sprinter Usain Bolt has been called the fastest person alive, which is some great branding, because it would be entirely too ironic had his name been Usain Slow. And as such, he could have gone one of two ways when picking out names for his own kids: Normal, or lean aaaaaaall the way into the homonym-based punniness of that last name. Luckily for everyone involved, Usain Bolt and his girlfriend Kasi Bennett did not play it safe when it came time to whip out a pen and fill out their babies’ birth certificates.
Last May, Usian’s longtime girlfriend Kasi gave birth to their first child, a little girl they named Olympia Lightning Bolt. Usain and Kasi came through again with a bolt-like name. Kasi was pregnant with twin boys, and she gave birth shortly after Olympia Lightning had her first birthday (apparently everything about Usain is fast, including his ability to get his lady pregnant so soon after giving birth). The public didn’t know Kasi was pregnant, and that when she and Usain posted the first pictures of their little family of five on Father’s Day, it came as a surprise to many. It’s probably for the best they kept it quiet. You really don’t want to spend two out of three trimesters worrying about people cracking jokes about whether you’ll name the next kid Thunder Bolt. Especially since that’s literally what they named one of their twins! Usain and Kasi’s little twin boys are named Thunder Bolt, and Saint Leo Bolt.
Dad and Mom didn’t get into specifics, like when the babies were born. Or, why they chose to give one of their twins a name that sounds like a superhero, and the other a name that makes them sound like someone who just got papal approval at The Vatican. But Saint Leo’s name is likely a tribute to his father. Usain’s middle name is St Leo. It would be unfair to pass that name onto a kid because every substitute teacher would read it off like “Street? Leo Street, do I have that right? I think part of it got cut off. Steven maybe?“. Sadly, poor Thunder Bolt will never be able to escape hearing someone sing a couple of bars from “Bohemian Rhapsody” whenever he introduces himself and his sister as Thunder Bolt and Lightning.
