Jada Pinkett Smith And Her Mom And Daughter All Got Their Vaginas Steamed for A “Red Table Talk”

When most people think of“intergenerational female bonding,” they probably don’t imagine vaginal steaming with the fam. But most people aren’t Jada Pinkett Smith, mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris, and daughter Willow Smith, who routinely dive into trauma, addiction, sex, and other extremely personal shit on their Red Table Talk series. So on the latest episode of their show, these three each dressed up in the bottom half of an eighties bridesmaid dress and squatted their respective foofs over bowls of steaming hot water filled with coochie-cleansing herbs. Hopefully, they also did a chant praising Gwyneth Paltrow, the inventor of coochie-steaming, obviously.

Jada was clearly the most excited to try vaginal steaming. She was making all sorts of funny faces as she sat on her “throne” (a plastic bowl that kinda looked like a bedpan), and said it felt like “a little tingle, tingle” (via Hollywood Life):

“This is what I love. Steaming is an ancient practice, which originated in Asia and Africa and it was originally used to cleanse yourself after you finishing menstruating.”

“I’ve read somewhere that vaginal steams are like an aphrodisiac,” she also added. However, the wife and mom said the practice had a deep meaning and that she loved the feeling of “spending time with your vagina to just show it appreciation and care.”

Jada added that she doesn’t wanna read any comments chiding her for TOO. MUCH. INFORMATION:

“I’m telling you right now, I don’t want to hear nothing about this show, it being TMI and all that,” she said. “Because if you can listen to all these little rap artists talk and abuse the vagina you sure as hell can watch women give it honor and praise and spend quality time. So I don’t want to hear it… I don’t really care because we have to change the narrative around the vagina and women have to take it back.”

The segment was part of an episode on wellness, which featured an interview with wellness coach/author Queen Afua. The four women discussed boobs, sex, diet, self-care, what their vaginas could say if they could talk, and a special drink called “Queen Afua’s Womb Fruit Julep.” Oo, I’ll have to order that when the bars open back up.

Here’s the video of the whole episode. The snatch steaming starts around the 1:42 mark:

I’m always down to try new things, but as someone with bad knees and a terrible sense of balance, I’d be afraid I’d make one wrong move and scald my poor vagina. Not a place you’d wanna get third-degree burns. Plus, my poussey told me she prefers coffee to tea. And what she says goes.
