Hot Slut Of The Day!

Lorraine Crosby!

Up until a few years ago, I embarrassingly went through life without knowing an extremely important world history fact. I never knew that the Kelly LeBrock-like blossom in the video for Meat Loaf’s I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That) was lip-synching and it was a Milli Vanilli/C+C Music Factory situation. The face and body in the video belonged to model Dana Patrick but the gorgeous raspy angel voice belonged to Lorraine Crosby. Excuse me for a second so that I can make the long drive to my high school to bitch out my world history teacher for not teaching us about this!

Okay, I’m back. They told me he resigned years ago over this very thing. As he should! But Lorraine Crosby is an English singer/songwriter who, back in the day, was signed to Meat Loaf’s record label MCA after meeting producer/songwriter Jim Steinman. Jim ended up becoming Lorraine’s manager. Jim wrote I’d Do Anything For Love, which came out in 1993. Wikipedia says that while visiting MCA studios one day, Lorraine was asked to do the guide vocals for the song, as well as other songs on Meat Loaf’s album Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell. They used her vocals for the official release version of I’d Do Anything For Love, and she didn’t get paid for that, but she does get royalties. Lorraine is credited as Mrs. Loud on the song, something she regrets doing. And when it came time to do the video, the video’s director Michael Bay (surprise, surprise) decided that Lorraine didn’t have the right look since she’s blond and things called a wig and hair dye didn’t exist because then. So Michael hired Dana Patrick to play a Victoria’s Secret Christine Daaé in the video.

Honestly, this is Michael Bay at his most restrained because his original concept was probably to have Dana Patrick roll around on a Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost with candlewax pasties over her titties and the Phantom of the Opera’s mask over her crotch while chandeliers explode in the background. So Michael Bay kept it DEMURE:

Lorraine said later that she found out she had been kept out of the video by watching the video on Vh1! Lorraine admitted that she was hurt that nobody told her and nobody asked her if she was okay with somebody else lip-synching along to her voice. Well, the good news for Lorraine is that she was spared from hearing Michael Bay scream, “Lara, Laura, whatever your name is, baby, sell me the song with your tits, honey, exude that emotion through your nipples!

Lorraine released her first and only album, Mrs Loud, in 2008. She has also dueted with and sang back up for Bonnie Tyler. Lorraine was on The X-Factor in the UK in 2005, but not as a judge, coach, or guest performer, but as a contestant. She was eventually cut and Simon Cowell being Simon Cowell said she didn’t have star quality. And in 2013, she was on The Voice UK, and again, not as a coach or guest performer, but as a contestant. Not one of the coaches (will.i.am, Tom Jones, Jessie J, or Danny O’Donoghue) turned around for her and that’s probably because an immense amount of jealousy weighed heavy on their button-pressing hand since Lorraine can out-sing all those tricks!

Lorraine let them know that she’s the female singer on I’d Do Anything For Love, and added that she wanted to do The Voice to put a face to the song since everybody thinks that Dana Patrick sang it.

Lorraine later said that Meat Loaf has always appreciated her work on his songs and she does these reality shows to boost her profile and move her singing career forward.

Honestly, Meat Loaf needs to redo the video for I’d Do Anything For Love with Lorraine in it. Even though Dana Patrick delivers haunting sexiness, I’d much rather see Lorraine singing to her own voice while sitting on a floating settee and twirling her blond hair like, “Eat this, Michael Bay!”
