Blake Lively Will Star In A Horror Film Based On A Reddit Story

Hollywood has made an entire film franchise based on poorly-written Twilight fan fiction. They’ve green-lit a Twitter thread. And until they decide to scratch another layer off the bottom of TikTok’s barrel, Hollywood has Reddit.com to excavate for original content ideas. Anyone who has ever visited the r/AmITheAsshole subreddit, or AITA, likely knows that it’s easily the most lucrative and bountiful goldmine for Hollywood to begin pillaging first. But Blake Lively won’t be appearing in a film based on a thread called: “AITA for hosting my wedding at a plantation?“. Instead, Hollywood has decided to start making movie scripts based on the r/NoSleep subreddit, which is dedicated to publishing scary stories and horror threads, and Blake’s production company just picked up the rights to a Reddit novella titled We Used to Live Here.

Deadline reports that this is actually the second scary story published on Reddit to be bought and turned into a movie. We Used to Live Here was written by Marcus Kliewer, and was reportedly shopped around to various production companies last week. Blake secured the winning six-figure bid through her company, B for Effort, which means she’ll serve as a producer on the film. And, because she’s producing it, why not throw Blake into the leading role as well? Here’s the plot of the film, via Deadline:

Published as part of Reddit’s nosleep feature, the novella has a potent premise, about returning to your old childhood home only to realize it is not quite what you remember. A homeowner gets a knock at her door while her partner is at work. It’s a husband, wife and kids. They are peculiar, and the man says he once lived in the house and wanted to take a look around. The homeowner is just getting used to the old house herself, and things get progressively weirder as a snowstorm strands the visitors as they just won’t leave. The homeowner can’t get rid of them, and winds up sorry she ever opened the door as events progress.

And here’s the whole story, if you want to read it before it gets turned into a movie starring Blake Lively.

It’s not known who Blake will play. The story itself opens with a woman named Eve opening the door to her and her girlfriend’s new house, so my guess is Blake will play the homeowner or the wife of the creepy dude. But whatever character she chooses, she’ll probably be good at it. Blake has done horror before (like in that shark movie, The Shallows), and she’s also done a  thriller (A Simple Favor). And who could forget how scary Café Society was for Blake? Not the actual movie, mind you. It was supposed to be a comedy. But that press tour. Having to face all those journalists, wishing they would stop asking you about Woody Allen? Terrifying!
