Open Post: Hosted By The Boston Red Sox Letting Jennifer Lopez Know That They Missed Her

May 20, 2021 / Posted by:

Ben Affleck loves all things Boston, like his beloved major league baseball team, the Boston Red Sox. And now that Ben might have Jennifer Lopez back in his life, the Boston Red Sox are joyfully declaring their everlasting love for JLo in a TikTok video. And sure, they’re probably also trolling Alex Rodriguez, just a little.

When Bennifer were first together back in 2002 to 2004, Ben dragged JLo to many Red Sox games, I wouldn’t be surprised if her doctor eventually sat her down and gave her a pamphlet on the dangers of second-hand non-rhoticity exposure. But then they broke up, and that was that. No more JLo at Fenway. Then JLo got with A-Rod, who used to play for the New York Yankees, and if you know nothing about baseball besides hot dogs and jockstraps, then I can teach you that the Yankees and the Red Sox love to hate each other. It probably broke every Red Sox fan’s heart to see JLo sleeping with the enemy.

That leads us to yesterday when the official Red Sox TikTok account gave Bennifer their blessing. And it looks like the Red Sox don’t give a damn whether or not Bennifer 2021 is a shameless publicity stunt or a genuine reunion of two soulmates. They’re just happy JLo isn’t with a Yankee anymore. via People:

The Massachusetts baseball team sent a TikTok video message to the singer, 51, set to an instrumental version of Zara Larsson’s “Never Forget You.” Captioned “Miss you, J-Lo,” the video included footage of Lopez at a Red Sox game in July 2019 with then-fiancé Alex Rodriguez while he broadcasted for Sunday Night Baseball. In the video, the MLB team added text that read, “To the girl on the Monster for Sunday Night Baseball in 2019. Come back soon. We miss you.

The monster they’re referring to is the Boston Red Sox’s mascot, Wally the Green Monster, seen canoodling with JLo in the TikTok below.

This is JLo’s second brush with Boston baseball fandom in about as many weeks. Earlier this month, JLo appeared and performed at the Vax Live concert, where she sang the Neil Diamond hit “Sweet Caroline,” and dedicated it to her mother, Guadalupe. But as any Red Sox fan will tell you, “Sweet Caroline” has been played during the eighth inning at every game for the last 19 years. A confusing choice, considering Neil Diamond himself is from, you guessed it, New York. But if JLo ever shows up with Ben at Fenway, the overwhelming chorus of drunk cheering will break the laws of sound. Which I believe will technically be almost as loud as the “BOOOOOOO“s they let out whenever A-Rod stepped on the field.
