Open Post: Hosted By Emma Stone At The “Cruella” Premiere

The last major film premiere before the COVID-19 pandemic shut everything down was Disney’s Mulan. The gag was that after the premiere, the movie didn’t even come out in theaters because of the shutdown. But things are opening back up including Hollywood. And last night, Disney held the first big premiere since the pandemic and it was for Cruella, which brought its star Emma Stone who managed to change out of everyone’s quarantine uniform of dirty sweats and a t-shirt and into some business casual Louis Vuitton.

The fashion-studded film Cruella will be out in theaters and Disney+ (for an extra $30) on May 28 and last night, it got the classic Hollywood premiere treatment complete with red carpet and movie stars. Although, some of the British stars, like Emma Thompson and Joel Fry, did not show up.

Just two months after Emma Stone welcomed a baby with her husband, Saturday Night Live director Dave McCary, she strutted her stuff at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles while wearing a Louis Vuitton suit. Honestly, I was expecting more extravaganza! I mean, Cruella is the origin story of the glamorous demon of evil, Cruella de Vil, and Emma wore a basic ass suit? Emma needed to take tips from the original Cruella de Vil, Glenn Close, who showed up to the 1996 premiere of 101 Dalmations in full puppy murderess drag:

Here are some more pics from the premiere:

Listen, Emma looked fine but come on. Throw on a red floor-length fur coat and put some effort into it. Put on a show! If the queens on RuPaul’s Drag Race can plan reveals, so can Emma!
