Trevor Noah And Minka Kelly Are Not A Couple Anymore

We’ve got another celebrity pandemic romance casualty. Except in this case, it was a relationship that was never technically confirmed, barely seen in public, and is ending as quietly as it began. Not once did we get a pandemic Instagram selfie with the caption, “Sorry, but I definitely can’t stay six feet away from this one!“. And we never will, because sources are saying that Trevor Noah and Minka Kelly are no longer together, and they broke up after Trevor bought a huge multi-million dollar mansion for the two of them to live in.

We first heard about 36-year-old Trevor and 40-year-old Minka about eight months ago, when a source revealed that they had been dating since before the pandemic and that it was “very serious.” Trevor and Minka moved quickly and she started quarantining at his apartment in Manhattan. They never went public on Instagram or mentioned that they were dating each other. This might be one of the only sets of pictures of the two of them in the same space:

Study that picture, it’s the only time you’re going to see them together. A source tells Entertainment Tonight that they have broken up, due to the fact that they’re both just too busy to be together:

“Minka and Trevor have broken up,” the source says. “Their work commitments and careers are very different and they both felt like they should take time apart.”

Kelly has been “leaning on friends, traveling and keeping busy since their split,” while Noah “has been doing his own thing too.”

Trevor Noah has The Daily Show, of course, but he can also be seen here and there at various gigs, like hosting the Grammys. Minka appears on the HBO Max superhero series Titans. Titans films in Toronto, Canada, while The Daily Show tapes in New York City. That’s not too long of a flight between the two, but it’s clearly too long to spend on a plane when you think you shouldn’t be spending any time together in the first place.

It sounds like both Trevor and Minka are handling their split well, and if ET’s source is telling the truth, then their split might have been amicable, no matter how “very serious” they were about each other. But there’s one person who is likely to be shocked, stunned, and possibly devastated by this break-up news, and that’s whoever sold Trevor Noah his $27.5 million mansion in Bel-Air last year. TMZ points out that when Trevor bought the 11,000 square foot, six-bedroom, 11 bathroom property at the end of 2020, he allegedly decided to buy such a huge place because he was thinking about his future. Which is to say, he was in a very serious relationship with Minka Kelly, and allegedly wanted to buy such a big home that the two of them could live in.

Now it’s a six-bedroom bachelor house that he only gets to enjoy when he’s not in New York City working on The Daily Show. But it doesn’t really matter, because if you’re rich enough to afford $27.5 million on a home you’ll only sleep in on the weekends, then you probably don’t care about how much wasted space there is. And I don’t know for sure if Trevor’s $27.5 million home purchase contributed to their break up, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it had something to do with it. It doesn’t matter how serious you are about a person, some people just can’t see themselves living in a house that looks like the secret space lair of a dentist-turned-evil genius from The Jetsons.
