Gwyneth Paltrow Says Moms Need To Stop Judging Each Other

Gwyneth Paltrow loves giving advice. It’s the paleo bread to her organic butter. The gluten-free macaroni to her vegan cheese. The jade vagina egg to her vagina. So this week Gwyneth went on Ciara’s YouTube interview series (?), Coach Conversations, and dropped this pearl of wisdom: Don’t judge other moms. Ummm, aren’t snooty, judgmental mothers Goop’s target demographic? Bitch, don’t bite the perfectly manicured hand that shills out $75 for your pussy candles!

Gwyneth said it’s important “not to judge other mothers in their process and their decisions.” (via People):

“We have to be supportive of each other,” theĀ Shallow HalĀ actress continues.

“I think there’s this tendency sometimes, ‘Did you breastfeed? Did you not breastfeed? Are you doing sleep training, are you not?’ People get so triggered and so opinionated and I think it’s so important to understand that all moms are doing their best,” Paltrow adds. “Advice, while it can be wonderful if someone asks you for it, it’s different than judgment.”

Ya, hear that? Advice is different from judgment. And Goopy is giving us advice. If that pisses you off, maybe that’s your trigger, your journey, your fuck up as a mom.

And sure, I think what Gwyneth is saying is technically correct; we could all learn to be less judgmental. But the disconnect between that quote and her whole Goopy, nose-in-the-air, “I only feed Jagger organic oatmeal with Moroccan moon crystals” thing really drives home how out of touch she is. I know! Goopy out of touch! Quel surprise!

Here’s the interview… the judgmental mother part is around 6:55:
