Bill Gates Was Left At Home While His Whole Family Flew To A Private Island To Escape The Divorce News

As each new day dawns, we’re learning more and more about Bill and Melinda Gates‘ divorce after 27 years of marriage. At first, it sounded like it was an amicable split, and that Bill and Melinda just wanted to go on separate paths as they navigate the next chapter of their lives. Then, as we learned they have no prenup to dictate how his $130 billion to $150 billion net worth will be distributed. Now there are reports that Melinda and their three adult kids, Jennifer, Rory, and Phoebe Gates, have all fled to a private island to avoid the media attention, and Bill isn’t with them, because he was not invited.

Sources who spoke to TMZ say that Bill and Melinda allegedly planned to announce their split back in March. Around the time Bill and Melinda were planning to break the news, Melinda was also reserving a private Caribbean island so that she and her family could avoid any photographers or media people looking to bother them. And that’s where Melinda and her kids are now. Melinda, the kids, and their significant others are all staying at a $132,000-a-night Calivigny Island in Grenada. Yes, Melinda has rented the whole island. This is what it looks like:

Most regular people won’t clear anywhere close to $132,000 a year in taxable income, but it’s not exactly hurting Melinda’s wallet to drop that much on a quick post-divorce announcement vacation. Especially since Bill reportedly just transferred a bunch of stock to his soon-to-be ex-wife. Even if Bill is footing the bill, he’s not there to enjoy it. Daddy is not welcome on the island! via TMZ:

We’re told everyone in the family already knew Bill and Melinda were divorcing. There was a considerable amount of acrimony associated with the split and we’re told virtually everyone in the family took Melinda’s side. Another way of putting it…we’re told they were very angry at Bill, and that’s why he wasn’t invited.

We’re told this was not a friendly split. We’re told Melinda and most of the family were furious at Bill for various things they claim he had done.

Melinda’s sudden vacation might have also messed up their divorce proceedings. Bill’s lawyers have been trying to work out settlement issues, but a lot of what they’re doing needs to be signed off by both parties, and Melinda is on a private island.

Speaking of that, I wonder why everyone would take Melinda’s side? Well, the internet has already begun to speculate. Page Six reports that a translator named Shelly Wang, who has worked for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for six years, has recently come out and publicly tried to kill rumors that she has something to do with the end of Bill and Melinda’s marriage. And of course, everyone keeps looking at Bill’s ex-girlfriend Ann Winblad, who he is still friendly with, and spent a weekend alone with her at her beach house every year.

But we don’t know…yet. All we know is that Bill is not on a private island with his family. Where Bill is, we cannot say. I would estimate that he’s currently residing in the kind of negative headspace that has him anxiously biting his nails and mentally picturing his whole family in a hot tub, drinking fruity drinks, and talking shit about him.
