Marvel Has Revealed The First Look At Angelina Jolie In “Eternals”

May 3, 2021 / Posted by:

After much talk and rumors about Eternals, people finally get to see the first teaser of it earlier today, courtesy of Marvel Studios. Sadly, if you want an HD buffet of Eternals muscles, you’ll have to hit up those old pics of Kumail Nanjiani. Because there’s not a whole lot to see here (it is a teaser, after all). But we do get a 1.5-second glimpse of Angelina Jolie in full superhero mode, complete with a magic sword. But why? She’s got razor-sharp cheekbones right there!

Marvel didn’t just drop the first look at Eternals. They also teased every Marvel film that will be released from now until May 2023. HuffPo describes Marvel’s three-minute video, which is narrated by the late Stan Lee, as a “sizzle reel,” which is an accurate description for those who get very excited over this kind of stuff. Marvel didn’t leave anything out. On top of teasing movies that won’t be out for another two years, they also included clips of some previous Marvel films, as well as a live reaction fan cam from inside a theater on the opening night of Avengers: Endgame. They wrapped it all up together and titled the video: Marvel Studios Celebrates The Movies. Somewhere Martin Scorsese is probably saying, “Well, listen – I’m just glad they called them movies and not films.

At nearly two minutes into the video, we get those teaser clips from upcoming movies like Black Widow (out July of this year), Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (September 2021), then Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao’s Eternals, which opens with a clip of Salma Hayek in a cowboy hat and riding a horse, then transitions into our first introduction to all the Eternals, a superhero squad. Angelina Jolie plays Thena, who is a warrior Eternal that can form any weapon out of energy. But based on this screenshot alone, she also looks like Lanie Kerrigan from Life or Something Like It after retiring from TV news reporting to land a spot on Real Housewives of New York.

Eternals will hit theaters on November 5th, 2021. Other things we learned from the video are that the sequel to Black Panther is scheduled to hit theaters on July 8, 2022. The late Chadwick Boseman, aka The Black Panther, features heavily in the video below, which is a nice little sendoff, considering Marvel reportedly had no plans to re-cast Chadwick’s role in the sequel. There’s also release dates for Spider-Man No Way Home (December 2021), Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (March 2022), Thor: Love and Thunder (May 2022), The Marvels (November 2022), Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (February 2023), and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (May 2023). Those are literally all sequels or follow-ups, by the way. You know what, I’m honestly shocked they didn’t also announce a sequel to Eternals at the end, since everything gets a sequel. Eternals 2: Never Stop Never Stopping, in theaters July 2026. And it will still premiere before Angelina and Brad Pitt have finalized their child custody situation.
