Lily James Says There’s A Lot To Say About Dominic West, But Not Right Now
Lily James recently gave an interview to The Guardian, to talk about her role in the upcoming BBC One period drama series, The Pursuit of Love. That’s the one she was working on with Dominic West, who she was seen kissing and scooting around Rome with back in October. You can’t even so much as see the words The Pursuit of Love without immediately thinking of those pictures of the very-much-married Dominic and the maybe mislead Lily. The drama continues to linger, so much that it’s been rumored that Dominic agreed to stay as far away from Lily as possible, which means no promotional duties for him. Lily is the main character, so of course she’s the one who got the Guardian interview. And of course, they asked her about that situation with Dominic. Dominic probably went out and bought the big pack of extra-absorbent kitchen towels in anticipation of this day, so he could mop up the gallon of nervous sweat gushing out of his body while worrying about what Lily might spill. But he can put them all back in storage because Lily pretty much said nothing.
The Pursuit of Love is all about love (forgive me for not prefacing that with a spoiler alert), and The Guardian led into Lily’s interview with a pull-quote saying, “All sorts of people can become great loves of your life.” If you think she’s referring to Dominic, go ahead and chalk that up to a bit of click-bait. The “all sorts of people” she’s talking about is not describing a married father who got caught fooling around on his wife and immediately tried to fix it by jumping in front of photographers with a statement written in Sharpie. In regards to that quote, she was actually talking about friendship:
“Andrew and I talked about how you don’t have to define some friendships. All sorts of people can become great loves of your life.”
Two questions later, and The Guardian was asking about the Dominic situation. However, they didn’t ask about Dominic by name, per se. They merely questioned the situation surrounding Dominic, by asking Lily what it was like to find herself in the middle of a “media storm” last fall. She answered:
“Ach, I’m not really willing to talk about that. There is a lot to say, but not now, I’m afraid.”
This is actually a pretty big step for Lily. Because it wasn’t that long ago that she was so dead set on avoiding the question, that she canceled interviews. So I believe she will get around to actually answering a question about Dominic one of these days. But by my rough calculations, based on the chronological timeline given, we’re probably looking at 2024 or later. So don’t hold your breath. But really, Lily doesn’t even need to answer any questions about Dominic, because she’s not the one who broke any marriage vows! She just wanted to kiss on her older co-star and whip around on a scooter. He’s the one who has some explaining to do. Like, did you get busted by the photographs, or was it the charge on your Visa bill from Roman-tic Scooter Rentals that did it?
