Nike Settled Their Lawsuit Against The Company That Produced Lil Nas X’s “Satan Shoes”

The promo campaign for Lil Nas X‘s latest Billboard #1 single, Montero (Call Me By Your Name) has involved a lap dance with Satan, trolling all the angry pearl-clutches who rose up afterward, and pissing more people off with his Satan Shoes. Well, those Satan Shoes brought on a lawsuit from Nike. Nike was suing the makers of the Satan Shoes, MSCHF, because the shoes were based on Nike’s Air Max 97. Well, Nike has settled that lawsuit and now the Satan Shoes have been banished to Hell for all eternity.

Lil Nas X and art collective MSCHF were selling 666 limited pairs of the custom sneakers with a drop of human blood in them for $1,018–a reference to the Bible quote about Satan’s banishment, Luke 10:18. The shoes quickly sold out. Do you know what else was quick? The lawsuit from Nike. But TMZ says that the battle is over and Nike won. via TMZ:

Lil Nas X’s Satan Shoes won’t see the light of day, because although Nike settled its lawsuit against the manufacturer of the merch … the shoe giant really won the battle to block the controversial kicks.

Nike tells TMZ … it’s reached an agreement with MSCHF, the company producing the custom shoes based on Nike’s Air Max 97…

The footwear giant tells us the settlement calls for MSCHF to launch a voluntary recall to buy back all Satan Shoes it’s sold for their original retail prices in order to remove them from circulation…

As part of the settlement, Nike says anyone who doesn’t return their Satan Shoes for a full refund will have to contact MSCHF if they encounter a product issue, defect or health concern.

Nike’s legal team just performed a legal action version of “Not today, Satan.” I don’t know how anyone didn’t see this coming. But I actually don’t understand how Nike got mad at Lil Nas X’s Satan yet seemed to be okay with the upcycled kitten heels:

You tell me which shoes really came from Hell.
