Caitlyn Jenner Might Be Thinking Of Running For Governor Of California

Caitlyn Jenner has been many things: gold medal-winning Olympic athlete, Wheaties spokesperson, reality TV cast member, and deadbeat parent. And up next for the woman who has never held any kind of political office or engaged in civic life might be a run for Governor of California. I guess if there’s a silver lining here, it’s that she’s thinking of running and not driving.
My only real understanding of 71-year-old Caitlyn’s interest or experience with politics is that she was once friends with Donald Trump and that she probably still votes Republican. But Caitlyn is also a famous person, and previous California Governors like Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger have proven, that’s sometimes all the resume that’s required. Technically, the qualifications for a gubernatorial run in California are that you must be a U.S. Citizen and a registered voter, and have never been convicted of a crime like embezzlement, bribery, or extortion, and that you haven’t already served two terms since 1990. Caitlyn checks all those boxes. As for why Caitlyn wants to throw her hat into that ring, it’s reportedly because the current Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, is facing a recall election. Gov. Newsom is a Democrat, and Caitlyn reportedly believes she’s famous enough to draw some attention to the election simply by being there. via Axios:
Former reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner is talking with political consultants as she actively explores a run for governor of California, three sources with direct knowledge of her deliberations tell Axios. A challenge from Jenner, a high-profile Republican and previous Trump supporter, would draw heightened attention to the race to lead the nation’s most populous state. Jenner is being assisted in her consideration by Caroline Wren, a longtime GOP fundraiser. Wren initially met Jenner through her work with the American Unity Fund, a GOP nonprofit focused on LGBT issues.
I’m sure that if Caitlyn Jenner runs, her campaign will go as well as Kanye West’s presidential campaign.
Caitlyn hasn’t publicly said whether or not she’s seriously considering running for Governor of California, so we’ll have to wait and see if she starts zipping around town with an IT’S GREAT WITH CAIT – CALIFORNIA 2022 bumper sticker on the back of her car. And if that happens, then I will have to question who is running Caitlyn’s campaign. Bumper stickers?! Stay clear of cars, and stick to hats and pens. Oh, and stay away from “singing” too:
