Chris Hemsworth thinks that looking like a beefed-up superhero/Falcon Studios exclusive model is actually hurting his acting credentials. Because as we all know, the less conventionally hot you are the easier it is to get into acting! In an interview with The Telegraph, he described how his “bodybuilding” is viewed as a “vanity” and if he pulled some Christian Bale shit and either got all bloated or ultra-skinny for a role, he’d be Oscar-winner Chris Hemsworth! Oh yeah, the reason Chris didn’t get nominated for a million awards for Men In Black: International was because he’s just too buff.
Chris Hemsworth could shatter my spine and I would say: “Thank you, Zaddy,” but that’s not enough for him. He wants to be taken “seriously” or whatever. Chris may play a himbo thunder god, but that doesn’t mean he is one. He’s had an extensive career playing things like: an ex Australian army guy turned mercenary, or a US marine, or a US army captain. THE RANGE! He explained that he’s more like a professional athlete because he has to be insanely fit on the regular. via BuzzFeed:
“There’s an aesthetic that the role requires. Bodybuilding is seen as vanity, whereas if I put on a bunch of unhealthy weight, or got unhealthily skinny for a role, I’d probably be called a serious actor… The training across 10 years of doing it is a full-time job. That and then a 12-hour shooting day — it’s a real grind. It’s incredibly rewarding, too — you have to look at it like a professional athlete.”
I mean, I’ve seen Chris’ workout videos and I do agree that regular people don’t work out like him. This is some next-level shit:
I would not be able to pull that dude back once let alone run his ass back there. Is he training for war? Isn’t Thor: Love And Thunder going to use any green-screen?
Well hey, if Chris ever wants to pull a Christian Bale and turn himself into a Dick Cheney-looking motherfucker he’s free to. And Christian is in the new Thor movie so hopefully, Chris is picking up tips. But Thor did get husky in the last Avengers movie, so Chris actually had his chance, eh? Thespians of the world, retire! Here’s a non-buff Chris Hemsworth acting his ass off:
I don’t know if I took that any more seriously than Chris’ other work, but good luck to Chris in campaigning for the rights of incredibly fit people to be taken seriously. He should call Jillian Michaels to help him fight the good fight. We know she hates when we take other body types seriously.
