Meghan McCain Is Worried That An Unqualified Minority Might Come For Her Job

Another day, another attempt by Meghan McCain’s hair and makeup team to make a laughing stock of her and derail her career. But in case you didn’t know, Meghan’s dad was John McCain, and as such, she is invincible and more than capable of doing both on her own. Her daddy didn’t raise no chump! But he did raise a white woman who is afraid that underqualified minorities might be coming for her job. You know, like Asian Americans whose dads weren’t John McCain.

Hot off the heels of having to apologize for co-signing Donald Trump‘s racist anti-Asian rhetoric, Meghan says she’s concerned the push for greater Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) representation in politics has gone too far. On today’s episode of And Whoopi Sighed, AKA The View, Meghan, who looked like she was headed to a unicorn themed rave right after the show, made sure to center herself in a discussion about AAPI representation by warning that the “slippery slope” of “identity politics” might one day lead to her being out of a job. Rich coming from someone whose identity as a politician’s daughter is why she has the job in the first place. The Daily Beast reports:

A conversation on The View about Asian American representation in Joe Biden’s cabinet turned personal on Wednesday when Meghan McCain used the opportunity to express her fears that “identity politics” could leave her without a job.

Each of the show’s panel members seemed to agree that it was entirely appropriate for Democratic Senators Tammy Duckworth and Mazie Hirono to demand the Biden administration diversity its high-level staff, with Sunny Hostin saying she “didn’t see anything wrong with it” and Sara Haines calling it “the right thing to do.”

But when it was McCain’s turn to speak, she said she “truly believes” that only the “most qualified” people should be running departments “like national security and infrastructure, things that literally are the meat and potatoes that make the country great.”

“Just to put a cap on this, The View is 25 years old next year. We’ve only had one Asian American host co-host this show,” McCain said, referring to Lisa Ling, who spent three years on the show from 1999-2002. “So does that mean that one of us should be leaving because there’s not enough representation? Is identity politics more important than the qualifications for the job? And I think that’s a question going forward that the progressive left is going to have to reconcile.”

Here’s a clip from today’s episode of Meghan Took Great Umbrage in which Meghan took great umbrage with Democrats not following “what Martin Luther King preached” when they insist on pushing for broader representation.

Damn, Whoopi’s still got that Ghost magic! I’m 100% sure she was channeling MLK with that last sigh there.
