Piers Morgan Has Quit “Good Morning Britian” After Getting Called Out Over His Vitriol For Meghan Markle

I was sitting here writing about what a big baby Piers Morgan was when he stormed off the set of Good Morning Britain after being challenged by his co-presenter Alex Beresford about his relentless stream of trash talk directed at Meghan Markle. I had some good jokes in there like “he ran out of there so fast you’d think Prince Andrew had just sauntered into the studio barefoot carrying a bottle of massage oil,” but the joke’s on me because Piers was apparently so upset that he quit GMB. And unlike Piers, I’d never knock a person for leaving a toxic situation to protect their own mental health and well-being.

In the wake of his on-air hissy fit (which I’ll get to in a minute), Piers posted this cryptic message on Twitter which was immediately followed by the news that he’s decided to leave GMB.

As we know, you’ve got to add an “un” to the words “professional” and “healthy” when describing Piers’ obsession with the American actress from the USA network show Suits who later married into the British Royal Family. And you’ve got to add “hinged” and “manly” to that list when describing what happened when his GMB co-presenter called him out on this morning’s show for his “diabolical behavior” towards Meghan. Here’s the clip of Piers acting like a petulant brat being reprimanded for touching his pee-pee in public. We know it feels good Piers, but it’s inappropriate.

And we’re now learning that Piers had every reason to be defensive. Variety reports that Ofcom, the British equivalent to the FCC, has launched an investigation “after more than 41,000 people wrote in to complain” about Piers’ comments about Meghan’s mental health struggles. So maybe Piers saw the writing on the wall and decided quitting would get him more mileage than getting fired would?

On Monday’s edition of the show, Morgan said he did not believe Markle’s statement about mental health, which she made during her and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, which was broadcast in the U.S. Sunday evening.

Markle said that she had approached people in the Royal “institution” for help after she had suicidal thoughts, but was turned down.

“Who did you go to? What did they say to you? I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she said, Meghan Markle. I wouldn’t believe it if she read me a weather report,” Morgan said on the show.

“We have launched an investigation into Monday’s episode of ‘Good Morning Britain’ under our harm and offence rules,” an Ofcom spokesperson told Variety. Ofcom had received 41,015 complaints about Morgan’s comments by 2pm U.K. time on Tuesday.

Preemptive self-cancellation must be so cathartic. More people should try it!
