Bethenny Frankel Walked Back Her Criticism Of Meghan Markle After Having Seen The Oprah Interview
Bethenny Frankel sounded like a real Bitter Betty yesterday when she hopped on Twitter to bitch about Meghan Markle ahead of Oprah’s big pinkies and middle fingers up afternoon tea session with Meghan and Prince Harry. She’s sorry now, but hours before the interview aired Bethanny #TookToTwitter writing that she was unmoved by “the plight of being a game show host” with “tiaras & 7 figure weddings” who is “fetching 7 m for interviews.” I was like, who pissed in your Cheerios, but then realized Bethanny probably uses SkinnyGirl vodka for her cereal and wouldn’t know the difference.
It’s unclear if Bethenny’s initial take was an attempt to elicit an irony-laden “Yass Queen” out of Megyn Kelly, but if it was, good for her. Here’s the Tweet which she has since apologized for after having actually watched the interview.
Cry me a river…the plight of being a game show host, fairly unknown actress, to suffering in a palace, w tiaras & 7 figure weddings for TWO WHOLE YEARS to being a household name w @Oprah on speed dial, fetching 7 m for interviews, hundreds of millions in media deals. 🤔 #MARRY https://t.co/AsbeYPF9ry

Bethenny went on to compare her life as a Real Housewife of New York to that of Meghan’s life as a Real Duchess of Old Sussex indicating that Meghan knew what she was getting into when she married Harry:
I chose reality tv, to work towards making $, to be scrutinized & criticized.I took the trappings & the beatings along with it. It’s a rose w petals & thorns. People beg to enter the often toxic institution I signed up for. That WAS the life I chose. You can’t play stupid & smart

But I guess after actually watching the interview and hearing how The Firm reportedly wanted to give baby Archie the paper bag test before letting him into The Palace, Bethenny decided that earning a spiritual high-five from Piers Morgan was not worth the grief and tweeted an apology saying the pandemic made her do it.
I watched M & H sit down. Emotional distress & racism must feel suffocating & powerless. I’m a polarizing, unfiltered(often to a fault)flawed person w a voice. When I heard of the interview, during a pandemic, it felt like a surprising choice. I’m sorry if it hurt or offended you.

What she should have said was “annoying,” not polarizing. If we’re talking polarizing, Meghan’s the only the here who’s earned that title, and not even The Queen herself can strip it from her. Just think, if Bethenny had decided to suck up to Meghan ahead of the interview instead of dragging her, she might have earned herself a cameo on Meghan and Harry’s (falsely) rumored Netflix reality show Royally Pissed.
