Dolly Parton Got The Moderna Vaccine That She Helped Fund

Last year, it was further proven that Dolly Parton is a saint on earth when it was reported that she donated $1 million toward finding a coronavirus vaccine. Even though she helped make the vaccine happen, that doesn’t mean she was going to jump the line and get vaccinated. She’s turned down the Presidential Medal of Freedom (twice!) and a statue in her honor at the Tennessee Capitol, so we know that Dolly is a modest angel. Well, NBC News says that the time has finally come for Dolly Parton to get vaccinated with the Dolly Parton vaccine and she continued to give us gifts by serenading us with the vaccine remix of Jolene.

75-year-old Dolly Parton posted about her vaccination process to social media. Dolly’s $1 million donation was given to Vanderbilt University’s coronavirus research project, and she got her first shot of the Moderna Vaccine at Vanderbilt Health in Tennessee. She told AP last month she wanted to wait for her vaccine so it didn’t seem like she got her chance early just because she donated:

“I don’t want it to look like I’m jumping the line just because I donated money. I’m very funny about that.”

Dolly’s first shot was given to her by her friend Dr. Naji Abumrad of Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dolly and Dr. Abumrad became friends after he treated her for car accident injuries in 2013. Dr. Abumrad’s son, Jab Abumrad, was also behind the podcast Dolly Parton’s America. Dolly wore an elegant vaccine-ready blouse, and probably because she didn’t want to give everyone a glimpse of her tasteful arm tattoos by scrunching up her sleeve. Dolly posted a video of the experience where she sang her vaccine version of  Jolene.

“Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine. I’m begging of you please don’t hesitate. Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine. Cause once you dead, that’s a bit too late.”

Here’s the video of Dolly getting a dose of her own medicine:

And I love how Dolly got on Dr. Abumrad for being slow. Along with RuPaul, he now holds the honor of being sassed by Goddess Dolly!
