Texans Beyoncé And Kacey Musgraves Helped With Disaster Relief While Ted Cruz Was Headed To Cancun

As the state of Texas has been struggling under extreme weather conditions and a failing power grid, proud Texan Beyoncé has been shipping warm winter clothing for those in need. Just yesterday, Reese Witherspoon posted a picture of an “Icy Park” drop she got from Beyoncé which included a metallic, copper-look puffer coat from Ivy Park x Adidas’s new winter line. But because Beyoncé isn’t 2021’s most colossal asshole, her BeyGood foundation is also helping Texans with disaster relief. Obviously, 2021’s most colossal asshole (to date) is Ted Cruz who thought it would be a good idea to abandon his constituents in the midst of one of the worst natural and man-made disasters in the state’s history to jet off to the Ritz-Carlton resort in Cancun only to turn right around and blame the ill-advised trip on his kids. And unfortunately for Ted, while they are verifiable disasters of epic proportions, his life, career, wardrobe, haircut, beard, and face don’t qualify for BeyRelief.

According to People, “Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD Foundation, Adidas and Houston disaster relief organization Bread of Life teamed up to provide relief to Texans in need amid Winter Storm Uri.” BeyGood posted on Twitter instructions for how Texans and people living in other states affected by the storms can apply to receive disaster relief.

People reports that “Texas residents and people in states affected by the storms are able to apply using their Disaster Relief Assistance Application Form for up to $1,000.” That’s the equivalent to a three-night stay at the Ritz! (prices may vary, airfare not included. Check with Heidi Cruz for current rates). People adds:

The winter storm has left millions of Texas residents without electricity and heat for several days.

Across the U.S. there have been at least 47 deaths as a result of the snowstorm, according to USA Today, and poor conditions for animals due to the frigid temperatures and lack of infrastructure to resolve the crisis in a swift manner.

Texas residents are also suffering from a food and water shortage during this state of emergency.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott warned residents on Thursday — millions of whom are without clean drinking water and/or power — to brace for the freezing temperatures to continue at least through the weekend, according to the New York Times.

It’s seriously fucked up and I hope that Ted’s massive failures as an elected official and human being only serve to shine a light on the magnitude of this disaster. But while we can call him 2021’s most colossal asshole to date, we can’t call him a bad dad. Ted’s daughters were cold for 2 days, and presumably, didn’t have any food (Mexican) or water ($10 bottle of Fiji from the mini-bar) in the house, so he was just doing what had to be done to protect his family(‘s tan lines). But poor Snowflake Cruz was left behind:

But now that Ted’s back and ready to get to work, he might want to connect with Texas native Kacey Musgraves who is also doing her part to help the people of Texas. According to Huffington Post, the country star is selling t-shirts on her website with all profits going to “directly support Texans in need: Feed The People Dallas, Casa Marianella, and the American Red Cross of Central & South Texas.” Here’s the announcement she made on Twitter.

Maybe Ted can help boost sales by signing them. I’d say it’s the least he could do, but he already did the least by doing the most.
