Mr. Big Will Not Be In The “Sex And The City” Revival, And There’s A Chance That Steve Won’t Be In It Also
It looks like the chair marked “Samantha” won’t be the only empty chair on the Sex and the City revival set. HBO Max has greenlit a limited 10-episode SATC revival titled And Just Like That…, the latest update of which is that David Eigenberg, aka Steve the Bartender aka Miranda’s husband, might not be back. And that Chris Noth, aka Mr. Big, will definitely not be back. And just like that…John Corbett’s agent started speed-flipping through their Rolodex for HBO Max’s contact information.
The SATC revival will be set in present-day and Samantha Jones is not in it, because “friendships fade.” It also looks like the And Just Like That… writing team will be figuring out how Carrie went from married to Mr. Big in the 2010 film Sex and the City 2 to Mr. Big’s sudden mysterious disappearance from her life. Maybe he ran off with Samantha? Maybe he cheated again and Carrie kicked him to the curb? Maybe he realized his life was nothing but wall-to-wall empty materialism and consumerism, and he left Carrie to work with a woman who looks suspiciously like Queen Latifah in the pursuit of vigilante justice? Who is to say! All will be explained in due time. via Page Six:
Page Six has learned that Chris Noth will not reprise his role as the iconic Mr. Big in the Sex and the City reboot.
Mr. Big isn’t the only SATC love interest who will be missing from the series. Sources say that David Eigenberg as Steve won’t be back either. Not Skid Marks! But there is a chance he might show up because David Eigenberg’s rep spoke to Page Six and said that he’s currently in negotiations to come back.
Chris Noth currently stars on CBS’ The Equalizer so maybe he’s not coming back to SATC because he doesn’t have the time. It could also be because Carrie and Mr. Big broke up a million times over the course of the franchise, and some look at their relationship as a toxic mess. So it could also be a story choice. Like, that Carrie finally realizes it’s time to divorce. If that’s the case, I really hope they work in Carrie’s expensive anniversary present from SATC 2. Carrie redefined the word corny by giving Mr. Big a vintage Rolex inscribed with the words “Me and You, Just Us Two.” I kind of hope And Just Like That… opens on Carrie at a pawn shop in Queens with the watch, hissing, “Yeah well, it’s just one now, and this one is hoping to get $3500 for it.”
