Police Are Now Investigating The Abuse Claims Against Marilyn Manson

Normally if Marilyn Manson found himself in a conversation about digging, he might be into it, because it sort of conjures up images of grave digging, and he’s a spooky guy who has built an entire career around corpses, ghouls, and general Halloweenerie. But something tells me Marilyn is 100% not into hearing that the cops are digging around in those numerous allegations of abuse that have recently become a big part of Marilyn’s reputation. According to TMZ, the LA County Sheriff’s Department is taking them all very seriously and officers want to talk to one of his accusers.

The allegations against 52-year-old Marilyn Manson (whose real name is Brian Warner) are numerous including the initial allegations made by Marilyn’s former fiancée Evan Rachel Wood. Evan accused Marilyn of sexual and psychological abuse (and later, accused him of getting anti-Semitic with her). After Evan went public on social media, several other women came forward with similar accusations, including Game of Thrones actress Esme Bianco. Marilyn Manson was eventually dropped by pretty much every current professional contact in his life. Marilyn Manson has maintained that all of his sexual relationships have been consensual, even if he is a polarizing figure who is a “magnet for controversy.

TMZ says the LA County Sheriff’s Department is concentrating on one allegation in particular. Police are reportedly set to speak with one of Marilyn’s victims who came forward with her story, but TMZ won’t say who it is. Law enforcement sources added that their plan to speak with one of the victims was initiated by the wave of allegations that happened after Evan Rachel Wood came out with her story. They claim that they also reportedly got several tips from the FBI, who were contacted about the allegations.

If police are looking to do some interviewing, there are plenty of people who are willing to talk. Like Marilyn Manson’s former keyboard tech-turned-personal assistant Dan Cleary, who recently revealed that they figured something was going on back in the day while they were on tour when Evan Rachel Woods (who was his girlfriend at the time) started getting more withdrawn and closed-off. And when he brought it up to Marilyn’s manager, nothing was ever really done about it. via NME:

“Her demeanor changed. Her physical looks changed. She got skinnier. She got – her whole like aura just became darker. I mean, I spoke to his manager about it, but the manager seemed to know all that and didn’t really care a lot. There’s people saying that I’m complicit because I saw this stuff happening and I didn’t do anything and I’ll accept that. There is some truth in that.”

It’s important to note that law enforcement sources say that their meeting with said victim will be to determine if a crime was committed, if it falls under the LA County Sheriff’s Department’s jurisdiction, and if a further investigation should follow. So, not to immediately press charges or anything, more like just to see if something illegal, as opposed to just awful, happened. If I was Marilyn Manson, this would be where I would start freaking out. It sounds like there’s a good chance the more people those cops talk to, the greater chance that they might discover something he did bounced over the line of legal. It’s fitting that his first big radio hit was a cover of “Sweet Dreams.” Because something tells me any chance of having a relaxing sleep full of sweet dreams will be disturbed for the next little while.
