Prince Philip Was Taken To The Hospital As A Precaution
Prince Philip has been taken to a London hospital as a precaution after feeling unwell. Now, the Duke of Edinburgh is 99 years old (and turning 100 on June 10 [Geminiii]), so I can’t imagine his default setting is bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. But clearly he was feeling shitty enough that it was cause for concern. And no, a source has confirmed it’s not COVID-19 related. Dude already got the first round of the vaccine with wifey Queen Elizabeth last month.
A press release from Buckingham Palace stated (via CNN):
“His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to the King Edward VII Hospital in London, on Tuesday evening.”
A Royal source told CNN that Prince Philip traveled to the hospital via car (thankfully he didn’t drive himself), and was well enough to walk into the hospital without any help. The Queen, 94, has remained at Windsor Castle, which, according to Google Maps, is a good 50-minute drive west of the hospital. Or 1 hour and 26 minutes on public transportation. Lizzie has options! The statement goes on to say:
“The Duke’s admission is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness’s Doctor, after feeling unwell.
“The Duke is expected to remain in hospital for a few days of observation and rest,” it added.
Prince Philip/The Duke (there’s that Gemini double identity) retired from doing public events in 2017 because of his old age. He’s been in the hospital several times over the last few years, as recently as December 2019 for a “pre-existing condition.”
If I were the Duke, I’d be pretty damn obsessed with making it to the big 1-0-0. I’d be headed to the hospital for every sniffle. What an accomplishment it would be to become an elite centenarian! Other current 99 year-olds include the TRUE Queen, Betty White, designer Iris Apfel, and… errrr… welp, not many other celebs. The Queen Mother lived to 101. Can Philly-boy beat her record? Only time will tell…
