Kevin Hart’s Former Personal Shopper Has Been Accused Of Stealing More Than $1 Million From Him

When you’re a very rich person, which Kevin Hart is, you can afford to pay people to do stuff that you don’t want to do. Snoop Dogg has a full-time blunt roller on staff. Barbra Streisand has a doggy DNA expert on retainer. And Kevin is rich enough to pay someone to do his shopping. But he’s currently a little over $1 million lighter, due to the fact that his personal shopper was allegedly shoplifting money from him.

TMZ reports that Kevin’s former personal shopper, Dylan Syer, was in a New York City courtroom yesterday, facing 9 counts, including grand larceny. My initial reaction to this story was to wonder exactly what kind of diabolical money-stealing scheme Dylan alleged ran on Kevin. Was Dylan re-tagging various designer items from Kevin’s closet, and reselling the clothing to high-end children’s consignment stores, in some kind of elaborate money laundering situation? No, it’s actually (allegedly) a bit more simple and straight-forward.

Dylan gained Kevin’s trust in 2015 and began buying expensive items for him, on his behalf. All the purchases were legitimate, and Kevin’s credit card was used to make the purchases. With access to Kevin’s credit card, Dylan reportedly started transferring money from Kevin’s card into his personal bank account. Once he had the money in there, he started spending it like Johnny Depp Jr. Dylan allegedly blew hundreds of thousands of Kevin’s dollars on expensive jewelry, watches, art, collectibles, designer handbags, and leather goods.

This all reportedly happened in the span of two years. The grand total of Dylan’s heist against Kevin Hart’s credit score was nearly $1.2 million. The Queens County District Attorney says that Dylan bought at least 5 collectible KAWS figures, and at least 16 Bearbricks, which are Lego-looking bears that can retail for between $1000 to $3000.

The DA is trying to seize all the items Dylan allegedly bought with stolen money. That’s probably going to be tough because I just don’t see Dylan being the type of person to hang on to receipts. But the reason they’re trying to get it all back is so that Kevin can get his money back. When a thief uses your credit card number and starts making unauthorized charges, the credit card company will usually ring you up and ask, “Is that you making a $50 purchase at a Denny’s in Tampa, Florida?“. And when you say no, they will usually reverse the charges. That can’t happen here, because Kevin gave Dylan his permission to use his credit card over and over again. So it’s a little more complicated than just reversing the charges.

I know Chrissy Teigen was hoping to win the award for 2021’s Rich Person Flex-Disguised-As-A-Humblebrag with her story about getting tricked into buying a $13,000 bottle of wine. But that’s nothing compared to Kevin Hart. $13,000 on one bottle of wine? Kevin Hart is so rich, it took Kevin Hart two years to realize that $1.2 million had been stolen from him and spent on teddy bears taller than him!
