Netflix’s “Bridgerton” Was Viewed By 82 Million Households Making It Their Biggest Hit To Date

Never underestimate the power of a hot ass. And candy-colored brocade. But mostly butts. That’s the not-so-secret formula that made Bridgerton, Shonda Rhimes’ first offering in her multi-million dollar Netflix deal, an incredible hit. Thanks in no small part to Regé-Jean Page’s thrusting buttocks, Bridgerton is now Netflix’s biggest hit to date, drawing the eyeballs of 82 million households (via CNN). That’s a lot of eyeballs! Poor Regé-Jean’s ass is likely to burst into flames under that kind of scrutiny. And such, I’d like to take the opportunity right here, in writing, to offer Regé-Jean my services should he need someone to tenderly slather his singed buns with some double-cream butter. I’ll even churn it myself!

I hope Shonda’s answer to that executive at ABC who asked her “don’t you have enough?” when she asked for the Disneyland all-access pass she was promised is “bitch, I do now!” CNN reports:

Netflix has just claimed its biggest hit ever with “Bridgerton,” a drama set in Britain in the early 1800s.

Some 82 million households watched the drama, based on novels by Julia Quinn, in its first 28 days, Netflix (NFLX) said in a statement on Wednesday.

The company also claims that the show has “made the top 10” in each of its markets except for Japan, and has hit number one status in 83 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Brazil, France, India and South Africa.

The Regency-era romance drama, created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes, has created a buzz since it debuted at the end of last year.

People just can’t get enough of that sticky-icky Duke of Hastings’ pudding. Here’s Shonda celebrating the victory she shares with Regé-Jean’s rakish scowl (yes butts can scowl).

The Bridgerton Series of historical fiction novels by Julia Quinn, from which the show is adapted, includes 8 novels (Original Fergie and her ghost-writer could never), each focusing on a different Bridgerton sibling. In the first season, the Duke married eldest Bridgerton daughter Daphne, played by Phoebe Dyvenor (but we don’t see her butt or even her boobs for that matter). Last week, Emily reported that a second season is already in the works and will focus on eldest Bridgerton sibling Anthony Bridgerton’s butt, which is played by Jonathan Bailey’s butt. The corresponding novel for his story-line is titled The Viscount Who Loved Me. So Regé-Jean’s saddle-bopper probably won’t be the main focus of season 2. Thankfully, Jonathan Bailey’s bustle muscle can also get it.
