Keira Knightley Will No Longer Film Sex Scenes Directed By Men
Last March Keira Knightley announced to the world that she was done baring bum, boobies, and bush on camera. No more nude scenes! She explained that it was because having babies made her nipples droopy, and she knew eventually (errr, immediately) that shit would end up on a porn site. Now she’s elaborating, explaining on the Chanel Connects podcast that she won’t be filming nude scenes or sex scenes — especially if the director is a man.

“It’s partly vanity and also it’s the male gaze,” she said on the podcast. “I feel very uncomfortable now trying to portray the male gaze.”
She understands that some directors need “somebody to look hot” and there are those “horrible sex scenes where you’re all greased up and everybody’s grunting”. For Knightley, she is at a point in her career where she is no longer interested in doing that. She understands the value of these types of scenes but she said that they can find someone else.
Hmmm, I don’t see her working with Michael Bay anytime soon. Keira re-iterated that her decision isn’t just because she doesn’t wanna be objectified. It’s also cuz her body’s changed since becoming a momma:
“I’m too vain and the body has had two children now and I’d just rather not stand in front of a group of men naked,” she said.
Now, Keira says she’s not totally opposed to going nude, and that it would be different if it were a story about motherhood or body acceptance. But only if it was directed by a female filmmaker:
“I don’t have an absolute ban,” said Knightley, “but I kind of do with men.”
In the past, Keira has performed sex scenes in movies like Silk, The Duchess, and Colette. Last year she told Vulture that her favorite to shoot had been the one in Atonement. The one where she’s wearing a stunning green dress and gettin’ railed by James McAvoy against a bookshelf. Atonement was directed by a man, Joe Wright, but Keira said she was comfortable because it was “choreographed within an inch of its life.” Well, I should hope it was! Otherwise, her character would have fallen over. Sex against a vertical surface? LOL, what am I, a yogi?
