Chrissy Teigen Became A Horse Girl On The Advice Of Her Therapist, And There’s Already Been Backlash

Chrissy Teigen experienced a tragic pregnancy loss back in early autumn. After taking a month-long break from social media, she published an essay about her experience. Since then, she’s been pretty open about her coping mechanisms, making big changes like quitting alcohol, and little changes like getting into nose rings, face crystals, and Shabbat. Whatever, just don’t cut your own bangs, Chrissy! Her latest thing is horseback riding. She tweeted that her therapist said she needed something that was “just for her.” And she chose beautiful, shiny horses.

Here’s her tweet:

His name is Cosmo. Chrissy posted some Instagram stories of husband John Legend helping their 2-year-old son Miles ride the brown beauty. She also posted this picture of 4-year-old Luna:

And since this is Chrissy Teigen we’re talking about, queen of “relatable”, she also posted a bunch of videos of her struggling to fit into the horse boots. Famous horse girl Gigi Hadid had some tips:

Hot celebrity hijinks, right? WRONG. There was backlash. Some people took Chrissy to task for her original tweet, in which she said: “My therapist says I need something that I do for just me, as I have absolutely nothing currently lol”

Their argument was that since Chrissy is a wealthy, famous person, she shouldn’t say she has nothing. Especially since it’s a pandemic and people are struggling to make rent and put food on the table. Chrissy got into similar trouble back in 2019, when she joked that her mother treated $150 air pods like they’re disposable and buys a few pairs each month. Chrissy later apologized, admitting her tweet was “super tone deaf.”

This time Chrissy replied to the backlash, but held her ground:

When I was a kid I desperately wanted to go on this mother-daughter horse overnight camp. After weeks of begging, my poor Mom finally folded (in retrospect, it probably cost her a mint). But the moment we got there I proclaimed horses were “too tall” and I wanted to go home. And when the horse people finally coerced me into riding one, I screamed the whole ride. My horse, Leia, was a fucking bitch who kept galloping ahead and dramatically throwing her head down to eat berries. Anyway, the point is, horses are very pretty, but they’re too tall, and any good therapist should know that they can actually cause more trauma and strife between mothers and daughters. Be careful, Chrissy. Be careful, Luna. And Cosmo? I’m watching you.
