Lana Del Rey Thinks Donald Trump’s Presidency Had To Happen To Expose Earth’s Narcissism Problem

It’s time for yet another episode of Poor Lana Del Rey’s Publicist, in which we all collectively feel really bad for Lana Del Rey’s publicist, aka the person who gets the biggest headache whenever Lana opens her mouth. Yesterday, it was all about Lana’s explanation for why the cover of her latest album, Chemtrails over the Country Club, looked so white. Now she’s talking about Donald Trump, a conversation topic she’s covered before, mostly when she’s been defending herself against accusations that she’s secretly a MAGA. But this time, Lana is giving Trump credit where she believes credit is due, which is his tireless efforts in narcissism awareness.

Spin reports that Lana was recently interviewed about Chemtrails over the Country Club by BBC Radio 1, which of course covered the response to her not-exactly-diverse album cover and subsequent hole-dig when she tried to explain that some of her best friends and boyfriends have been “rappers.” The conversation then turned to COVID-19, and eventually to the election and Donald Trump. And that’s when Lana paid Trump an accidental compliment by saying that we all needed a Trump Presidency. Oh, for sure! Just like when you see a dumpster fire and the first thing you think is, “You know what this needs? About two to three gallons of gasoline.

But the reason why is because the whole world needed to finally acknowledge and confront the greatest threat to human survival. Global warming? Climate change? The fact that we’re all going to be scuba diving under the country club if we don’t do anything and soon? It’s climate change, right? No.

“As bad as it was, it really needed to happen,” Del Rey said. “We really needed a reflection of our world’s greatest problem, which is not climate change, but sociopathy and narcissism – especially in America. It’s going to kill the world. It’s not capitalism, it’s narcissism.”

According to Del Rey, the “big issue in the world” is what to do with the jerks, assholes, and “people who don’t know they’re hurting other people.” She did offer a solution though. “Do we put them all on an island together?”

Haters. The world’s biggest issue is facing humanity is haters. At least, according to Lana Del Rey. And it’s definitely not capitalism, which is exactly what the descendant of capitalism would say. Of course, it’s more than a little tone-deaf to claim that 4 years of Trump was a good thing for everyone. There are many marginalized people and communities that would disagree. Then again, no one should be that surprised, since being tone-deaf is almost as on-brand for her as pastels, chiffon, and sounding exhausted.

But the biggest reason for Lana to workshop any interview answers before she gives them would be her solution to solve the narcissism problem. Like, what do you mean the solution is to put all those self-involved navel-gazers on an island? Um, Lana? They tried that before. It was called the Fyre Festival, and it didn’t work.
