Lana Del Rey Defended Her New Album Cover After It Was Criticized For Its Lack Of Diversity
Yodelling witch princess who can stop coronavirus from entering her body with just her thoughts and some mesh, Lana Del Rey, has released the album cover of her next sleepy, wailing masterpiece Chemtrails Over The Country Club. And already people are accusing Lana’s album cover of being very white, much like a country club, But hey! Don’t come for Lana’s neck! She says there are ethnic people on the cover and she will list them!
Lana Del Rey’s seventh studio album is coming out on March 19, and Lana posted its cover and tracklisting:
E! News says not everyone was excited about the cover-reveal and in fact, a lot of people wondered why so many women on the cover are white. My favorite internet joke so far:

Lana must have been ready for that because she immediately responded:
“I also want to say that with everything going on this year! And no this was not intended-these are my best friends, since you are asking today. And damn! As it happens when it comes to my amazing friends and this cover yes there are people of color on this records picture and that’s all I’ll say about that but thank you.”
That was not all she said. She continued by listing her besties’ ethnic-makeups like she’s Ancestry.com:
“My beautiful friend Valerie from Del Rio Mexico, my dearest friend Alex and my gorgeous friend Dakota Rain as well as my sweetheart Tatiana. These are my friends this is my life. We are all a beautiful mix of everything–some more than others which is visible and celebrated in everything I do. In 11 years working I have always been extremely inclusive without even trying to. My best friends are rappers my boyfriends have been rappers. My dearest friends have been from all over the place, so before you make comments again about a WOC/POC issue, I’m not the one storming the capital, I’m literally changing the world by putting my life and thoughts and love out there on the table 24 seven. Respect it.“

She really lined up her friends who are women of color and said: “Roll call!” Well, this is a preview of what Lana’s bridal party will be like if she actually is engaged to her man, Clayton Johnson. Maybe she’ll dress her friends up in ethnic garb for wedding pictures to avoid confusion so she doesn’t have to list them out again.
