Ariana Grande’s Friends Think Her Latest Engagement Is More Rushed Than Her Tattoos

Last month we learned that 27-year-old Ariana Grande got engaged to Dalton Gomez, a 25-year-old real estate agent who is the successor to the extremely lofty fiance bar set by Pete Davidson. Ariana and Dalton’s engagement made for the most enduring and forever-bound love story of our generation, but her friends reportedly don’t agree and think she’s rushing it since they got engaged after dating for only 11 months.

The pair had been quarantining together at her home, and while millions of other couples playing house-hostage for almost a year have been bookmarking divorce lawyers and wondering what the hell they were thinking, forever love was blossoming between Ariana, Dalton, and her ride-or-die ponytail. Not even her quarantine song collaboration with Justin Bieber could give Ariana second thoughts, and saying yes to Biebs should always make you rethink your life choices, which is apparently what some of her friends think she should do. According to Entertainment Tonight:

Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez had a whirlwind romance that resulted in the two getting engaged at the end of last year. While the couple is “very in love,” a source tells ET that some of their friends think their engagement was “rushed.” “Ariana and Dalton have been spending a ton of time together since getting engaged and keeping things pretty low key and private,” the source says. “They’re mainly keeping to themselves and just enjoying their time together.”

However, the source adds, “They’re very in love right now, but friends think the engagement was somewhat rushed and are skeptical that the relationship will ultimately be short lived.”

The source also said that the engagement rumors were also surprising to people because Ariana didn’t shove Dalton in everyone’s eyes as she has with other boyfriends:

Romance rumors first sparked in February of last year. They made their relationship public in Grande and Justin Bieber’s “Stuck With You” in May.

At the time, a source told ET that she and Dalton were “in a really good place” when it came to their relationship as they quarantined together in Los Angeles amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The source also said that Grande’s past highly publicized relationships made her cautious when it came to sharing about her personal life. Grande was previously engaged to Pete Davidson from June to October 2018. She also dated the late Mac Miller, Big Sean and Ricky Alvarez, among others.

“Ariana has had some hesitation being so public about her relationship with Dalton as she’s seen how that has worn on her past relationships,” the source said. “Dalton and Ariana are in Los Angeles together during quarantine, and it has been a great opportunity for them to spend quality time together.”

So the source (my guess is Piggy Smallz) is supportive of the relationship, just not the speed of the engagement. Ariana doesn’t seem to do anything halfway, so she and Dalton might be doomed to see their sparkly public pledge of forever love through to its inevitable, embarrassing retreat, which will no doubt result in the messy debate over the fate of the ring, a hasty (and hopefully Bieb-less) song to underscore the beauty and power in moving on, and definitely a rush appointment for more tattoo cover-ups.
