Johnny Depp Says Amber Heard Never Followed Through With Donating The Entirely Of Her $7M Divorce Settlement To Charity

It looks like Amber Heard’s $7M divorce settlement check that she pledged to donate to charity might have been lost in the mail. Whoever has to go over to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to tell those kids that Amber will be fulfilling her pledge “eventually,” but that they won’t be getting any lollipops anytime soon, should probably dip into the Patch Adams costume closet for a clown nose first before breaking it to them. According to The Daily Mail, Johnny Depp claims that Amber lied about the donations and has not yet made good on her promise to donate the funds. A fact that Johnny is using to underpin his assertions that she’s a gold-digging, pointless dangling flappy fishmarket (his best line reading since Gilbert Grape, IMO). And Deadline reports that Amber’s attorneys have confirmed that indeed, Amber has been remiss in fulfilling her pledge because she’s been spending all her money on legal fees fighting Johnny in court. Baby girl should have riffled through Elon Musk‘s wallet for a couple of bills while she had the chance!

As we know all too well, Johnny’s not one to back down from an incredibly stupid and embarrassing fight. As such, it looks like Johnny took yesterday’s court decision to not dismiss Amber’s counter-suit against him, in which she accuses him of trying to smear her name, as an open invitation to do just that. You know what they say, in for a penny, in for a pound of mackerel. DM reports:

Johnny Depp is accusing ex-wife Amber Heard of pocketing the massive $7m settlement from their divorce and repeatedly lying about giving it all to charity, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal.

Heard, 34, declared that she didn’t want Depp’s money after their explosive 2016 breakup and vowed instead to split the payment between two charities.

But the actor’s lawyers believe the altruistic gesture was a ‘sham’ and have spent the past year chasing the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and American Civil Liberties Union to find out how much they actually received from the actress.

The ACLU has so far refused to cooperate with multiple subpoenas but documents produced by the hospital and seen exclusively by DailyMail.com suggest it only received $100,000 – way short of the promised $3.5m ‘gift’.

Johnny’s team also produced correspondence from CHLA asking Amber if she was ever planning on fulfilling her pledge, calling it a “smoking gun” and suggesting it’s proof that Amber lied in court when appearing as a witness in Johnny’s failed libel suit against The Sun. The initial $100,000 payment to CHLA referenced below was made directly by Depp, issued “in the name of Amber Heard.” Johnny stopped issuing the funds directly when Amber challenged him to “double the amount,” you know, for the kids! Deadline reports:

While Depp initially handed over $100,000 of a promised $3.5 million to L.A.’s Children Hospital Foundation in Heard’s name in 2016, a 2019 letter from the organization asks the actress “if you have knowledge if CHLA should expect further installment(s) on your behalf or if the pledge will not be fulfilled.”

Heard stated in the UK High Court last year, and on various other occasions over the past few years, that she donated the full $7 million to CHLA and the ACLU after some initial hiccups in the agreement with her ex-husband. In fact, in his biting November 2020 decision against Depp in the libel case against the Rupert Murdoch-owned Sun, Judge Andrew Nichol made a distinct point of praising Heard as Team Depp sought to sully the motivations of the anti-domestic violence advocate. “Her donation of the $7 million to charity is hardly the act one would expect of a gold-digger,” said the High Court judge, also asserting The Sun’s claims against Depp was “substantially true.”

Deadline says that in light of these facts, Amber’s lawyer “did noticeably walk back the full extent of the actress’ benefactions” in regards to Amber’s “$100 million counterclaim,” which honestly could buy so. many. lollipops!

“Amber has already been responsible for seven figures in donations to charitable causes and intends to continue to contribute and eventually fulfill her pledge,” the Reston located Bredehoft added. “However, Amber has been delayed in that goal because Mr. Depp filed a lawsuit against her, and consequently, she has been forced to spend millions of dollars defending Mr. Depp’s false accusations against her.”

And round and round we go. Boy, if those poor kids had a lollipop for every dollar wasted by these two, CHLA would need a shit ton more money for diabetes research, so maybe it’s for the best.
