Open Post: Hosted By Drew Barrymore Getting Stood Up By A Dude She Met On A Celebrity Dating App

And as a fucking attempted coup goes down, here’s some fluffiest fluff fluff fluff.

Online dating effing blows. It actually destroys a teeny piece of your soul each time you’re rejected by some bonehead who lives in a basement apartment with his brother who says he’s a writer but has only ever worked at the pizza restaurant two blocks from your apartment. And then you’re forced to see him every single day for the next four years, cuz the restaurant windows are huge, and that’s the route you take to get home from the subway. And the food there actually looks delicious, but you can never go in because it’s always that schmuck Damian slingin’ their scrumptious pizza pies straight outta the wood burning oven!

Phew! ANYWAY, comedian Nikki Glaser was on The Drew Barrymore Show earlier this week, and the topic turned to dating apps. That’s when THEE Drew Barrymore revealed that even she, a former Charlie’s Angel, had been stood up by some loser on a celebrity dating app (*cough* Raya).

A few months ago Drew announced that she never wants to get married again, and briefly mentioned she’d tried online dating. But in this interview she got into the nitty gritty. Drew correctly observed that all the guys on the app were “the cookie cutter same thing, over and over and over.” And when she finally settled on someone, he ditched her at the last minute:

“I booked a date with one guy, finally. He stood me up at the exact time we were supposed to meet,” Barrymore told Glaser. “And I was like, ‘Can’t you be a jerk like an hour before?’ That would have been such a time saver.”

The mother of two tried to take her rejection with a grain of salt, saying, “I know that happens all the time.” She also admitted, “I felt so stupid.”

Nikki tried to make Drew feel better by insisting that the guy who stood her up was probably just “intimidated”, but Drew replied:

“I think he’s just an uncourteous person who has reasons that are completely fine to him but is going about them all the wrong way…. We’ve just got to face the facts. It may be personal, it may not be, but whatever. Let’s not fool ourselves in the middle of all of this.”

They also discussed how it’s hard not to compare yourself to the other women (90% of whom are bikini-ed supermodels) on the apps:

“And at the same time, I’m like, you know what, this is my body. I made two babies. I’m working with what I’ve got,” she said. “You know what, screw it. I love these women in Victoria’s Secret campaigns. I love these women on this app and I’m not going to compare myself to them.”

I hope the doofus who ditched Drew sees this interview and feels shame. But if he’s anything like the rest of the pricks on dating apps, he’ll wear it as a badge of honour. I’ll bet he’s already changed his Raya bio to read:
