Justin Bieber Has Denounced Hillsong Church And Says He’s Not Training To Be A Minister

The New York Post has bad news for all the Justin Bieber stans who were hoping to see him get done up in Religious Leader-drag. Stories that 26-year-old Justin was going to transition into becoming a minister have been grossly misreported and he took to his Instagram Stories to clarify he’s just a regular-degular R&B sensation. He also made clear that he’s not a member of Hillsong Church, which has been in the news over Pastor Carl Lentz‘s cheating scandal and possible tax evasion. Well, the moral-authority pop star Justin Bieber has spoken, so I guess it’s time to cancel Hillsong. Elliot Page wins!

Justin and Carl broke up their friendship in 2018 so he wasn’t even close to Carl when Carl’s life broke open over allegedly having multiple affairs. But since Justin had such a public relationship with Hillsong (as have other celebrities, *cough* Chris Pratt *cough*) he’s obviously had his name thrown around in the headlines since the church’s scandals broke. Apparently, one such story had Justin training to be a minister with Hillsong. But luckily for us, Justin has no interest. He wrote on Instagram in all-caps:

“I’M NOT STUDYING TO BE A MINISTER OR ANYTHING EVEN CLOSE TO THAT. NO DESIRE FOR THAT THIS IS FAKE NEWS. AND BTW HILLSONG IS NOT MY CHURCH. FOR CLARITY I AM A PART OF CHURCHOME.”

Churchome is a nondenominational ministry based on the West Coast which preaches remote fellowship and also has celebrity congregants… but the thing is, those congregants are known to actually go to services at Hillsong Church when they’re on the East Coast, so… is that different? But Justin continued his religious examinations, writing:

“Church is not a place. We are the church. We don’t need a building to connect with god. God is with us wherever we are.”

Well hey, that’s deep! Maybe Justin should reconsider? I mean between him and his wife Hailey Bieber‘s intensely-deep religious examinations of Halloween these two could actually be decent spiritual leaders. Time for Justin to paint himself silver and give us religion with an R&B twist!
