Merry Christmas! Here’s A Man Rescuing A Deer To Warm Your Frozen Coal Pile Of A Heart
If you’re in the mood to feel a little warmness in your heart area today (and I’m not talking about warmness caused by heartburn from swallowing a ton of Royal Dansk cookies so you can use the tin to store more of your sewing supplies), please take a break from trying not to look bored on a Christmas Zoom call with your family to watch this awww-inducing video of a man rescuing Rudolph’s Wisconsinite cousin.
Gil Lancour tells WAOW that on Tuesday, he was driving to his home in Cranmoor, Wisconsin during his lunch break from work when he noticed a deer stranded out in the middle of a frozen reservoir, unable to get up. So Gil put on his Captain Save-A-Doe hat and drove home to grab a leash, thinking it would help him to save the deer. Gil also called his friend, John Moss, to help him out. Gil drives by the reservoir every day and said he knew it’d be strong enough to hold him, so he ventured out to the deer-in-need. But when he and John got close, the scared deer understandably started to freak out a bit (she’s seen Bambi and knows how humans can be!) and wanted to stand up. That’s when Gil’s inner deer whisperer came out, and he calmly put his hands on her and began to gently push her to shore as John filmed the rescue. via NBC 15:
“I just kind of put my hands on her and started pushing her,” he said. “I could slide her across the ice and just kept going, and got to the shore and she took off.” Moss said when he realized his friend had the situation under control, he took out his cell phone and started filming. “Obviously right away I was out there to help him but after he had it under control, then I was there for the show,” Moss said.
Once they got to the shore, the deer slipped and stumbled like that woman in Ukraine but was eventually able to stand up and run off into the woods. Here’s the video of deer savior and hero Gil pushing the deer who seems pretty chill in more ways than one:
I’m sure that after the video cut off, dozens of panties with phone numbers written on them were thrown at Gil. And now I know that if I ever make the wrong decision to go ice skating again, I’ll bring along a deer costume with me. That way when I inevitably get stuck in the middle of the pond, I’ll put on my deer costume and patiently wait for a hero like Gil to push me to safety.
