Erika Jayne Reportedly Filed For Divorce Because She Believed Tom Girardi Was Cheating On Her

The Erika Jayne and Tom Girardi divorce/embezzlement saga is officially the Trial of the Century (errr, for Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fans). This shit is messyyy. And it ain’t a Pretty Mess (heh). Earlier this week 81-year-old Tom had his assets frozen and his attorney tried to blame a bunch of his financial fuck-ups (read: stealing from clients) on a mysterious illness. We also learned that Tom could be disbarred or charged criminally. Now, the people suing Tom are saying that his divorce from Erika is a sham, and it’s actually a strategy to hide his money so he doesn’t have to pay his former clients. But a source close to the couple (just say it’s Mikey the glam guy) told People that it was actually because Tom was a cheater. Wow, lawyer, embezzler, and philanderer? Renaissance man over here!

The source says, via People:

“The reason she divorced Tom is because he was cheating on her with multiple women,” a source close to the couple says, adding that Erika claims “she’s known about his infidelity for years” but “wanted to try and save the marriage.”

There have indeed been rumors that Tom has been seen oot and aboot with another woman. And that 49-year-old Erika’s been having a long term affair with Scooter Braun after meeting him at a sex club (shudder). The source also says:

“When she was performing her last week on Broadway, he left her high and dry and was frolicking around town instead of supporting her and attending her shows,” the insider says they were told. “She realized she would never be a priority to him and that was her breaking point.”

Ah yes, Tom didn’t go to see her star as Roxy Hart in Chicago. Nor did he read her autobiography. Two things Erika pretended were completely normal when she was quizzed about them at recent Beverly Hills reunions. The source goes on to say that, for your information, the lawsuit has nothing to do with the divorce:

“The split was a long time coming. The lawsuit just coincided with her decision to leave him,” the source says, referencing a complaint filed in early December accusing the couple of using their divorce to embezzle money.

Hmmm. I raise my eyebrows at this, especially after reading yesterday’s in-depth Los Angeles Times article about the fall of Tom and Erika. Here’s my stupid person summary: For many years Tom was the lawyer for class action lawsuits. A really big deal. His clients were regular joes who were injured or cheated by evil corporations (like the Erin Brockovich case). Tom wouldn’t charge his clients a dime until they won the case. Then he’d collect up to 40% of whatever money they won, a strategy that made him very, very rich, bitch.

But then Tom got super secretive about his firm’s finances and began shuffling money around and taking out loans. Eventually, his clients were not being paid the cash they won in court (cue all the lawsuits). Tom was using their winnings to pay off his other debts. Cash was also going towards Erika’s pop career. Or he was hiding it by siphoning it into her company. Or maybe both. It’s all very shady. The long and the short of it is that Tom was stealing money from clients. And now he’s saying he only has a couple thousand dollars left in his personal bank account. Yikes. Hence the accusations that Erika and Tom’s divorce is a sham, and it’s a strategy to protect whatever cash he smuggled into her career. Cash that belongs to families (many of whom are Indonesian orphans) of the victims of a 2018 Boeing plane crash. Jesus Christ. It’s bad, bad, bad.

So even though I 1000% believe both Erika and Tom had side-pieces (or an arrangement), this source’s claim that Erika filed because of the affairs sounds like baloney. Yet another sneaky way of trying to convince us that the divorce isn’t a sham to embezzle the couple’s beloved dollars. Whew! Eat the rich, amirite?
