Matthew McConaughey And Russell Brand Think The Hollywood Left Has Been Arrogant About The 2020 Election Results

I guess that answers the question: “What party do we think Matthew McConaughey will register as when he inevitably runs for Governor of Texas.”
Matthew McConaughey is still promoting his book, Greenlights, and to keep with the color theme, he got into a debate of red vs. blue with Russell on Russell’s podcast, Under the Skin. Specifically, the 2020 American Presidential Election. A whole lot of people are celebrating the fact that Donald Trump will be out of the White House soon, but please – Russell and Matthew beg you to stop celebrating Joe Biden’s win! Because it’s so mean to the red hat crowd.
via Deadline:
Brand asked McConaughey whether he had noticed a “condemnation and criticism of ordinary working people” by liberal Hollywood. “[There is] a kind of offhandedness, like, ‘Oh, they’re dumb, they’re voting for Brexit, they’re voting for Trump.’ I don’t like it, and I don’t like to hear it,” Brand said.
McConaughey agreed, saying “There are a lot [of people] on that illiberal left that absolutely condescend, patronize, and are arrogant towards the other 50 percent…I’m sure you saw it in our industry when Trump was voted in four years ago, they were in denial that was real. Some of them were in absolute denial..[Now] it looks like Biden’s our guy. Now you’ve got the right that’s in denial, cause their side has fake news. And I understand, they’ve been fed fake news. No one knows what the hell to believe, right? So they’re putting down their last bastion of defense.”
Matthew McConaughey also mentioned that he thinks that the “two sides” (liberal and right-leaning) are so far apart, that we need to “dare” people to meet in the middle. Russell seemed to nod in agreement, which really begs the question: Why do I suddenly have “The One That Got Away” playing in my head?
Naturally, asking people on the left to reach out and metaphorically hug someone who has been chanting, “Lock her up!” and “FAKE NEWZ” for the past four years didn’t really go over that well with everyone. Some called him out for the privilege he has to be able to ignore all the shitty things the Trump administration did in the past four years, while others pointed out that there’s a difference between saying, “I can’t believe Trump won” and “I REFUSE TO ACCEPT THAT TRUMP LOST.”
Matthew McConaughey criticizes what he considers “the far left” but for the last 4 years didn’t say anything about what the current administration has done with their racism, sexism and xenophobia, is PEAK whyte privilege and he can continue to shut the fuck up. pic.twitter.com/NSLdEjEng8

For Matthew McConaughey to compare liberal reaction to Trump's win in 16 and Trump voters' reaction now is absurd. We didn't question whether he'd won, only the legitimacy of the electoral college as an institution. Trumpkins reject facts themselves and spin conspiracy bullshit.

And it looks like I’m not the only one who got massive amounts of red-state energy from the Former Mayor of Stoner-Bongoland:
Turns out this whole time Matthew McConaughey was saying alt-right alt-right alt-right

Matthew is allowed to give his thoughts on whatever he wants, but I just wish he would come out and admit that he’s talking like a right-wing politician because he aspires to be the Governor of Texas. Otherwise, it just sounds like Matthew’s recent wealth of condescending white guy talking points are the result of spending too much time on the Parler app during quarantine. And if that’s what’s up, then Matthew needs to put down his phone and get into a hobby. Knit a hacky sack or something!
