Cardi B Will Donate To Charity After Getting Dragged For Thinking About Buying An $88,000 Purse

Cardi B. She likes dollars, she likes diamonds, she likes stunting, she likes shining, she likes million-dollar deals… where’s her pen? Bitch, she’s signin’! But what Cardi really, really likes are purses that cost as much as a college education. Several weeks ago she and Offset stirred up controversy (and a discussion about racism) when he bought his wife multiple Birkin bags and literally posted the ($128,662.50) receipts. Back in the summer, he raised eyebrows by buying 2-year-old Kulture her own pink $20,000 bag. Then, yesterday Cardi tweeted that she was mulling over whether or not she should purchase an $88,000 purse. Now, rappers flaunting their wealth is not exactly a new thing. But many social media users were pissed, sharing their own financial woes and pointing out that many can barely afford to feed their families during the pandemic.

Here’s the tweet that started it all:

And some of the negative responses:

Cardi was annoyed about the backlash, and tweeted out some reminders of how much she donates to charity:

Cardi also said that she’s been helping her 10 uncles, 12 aunts, and a whole mess of cousins during the pandemic, and is doing “something very special in another country” that will be completed within the next year. But eventually, she folded, told her followers to tweet their donations to charity, and she’d match them:

But she continued to address the haters, claiming that people should really be mad at the government for taking their money. Then she kiiinda apologized:

Hours later she added that she was definitely going to buy the purse, and then tweeted more evidence of her past charity work. Finally, this afternoon, Cardi tweeted a picture of the controversial bag, which looks like it was made out of one of Kramer’s coats:

When one person correctly pointed out “It ain’t even that cute tho”, Cardi replied with rich person math:

Whew, that’s a lot of tweets. And hopefully a lot of charitable donations? I’m exhausted. So what can we learn from this? Hmmm. Maybe…if your argument includes comparing your actions to Donald Trump golfing through the G20’s coronavirus session, ya miiight just be in the wrong. OK, sure.
