Harry Styles Hits Back At Candace Owens’ “Bring Back Manly Men” Shit

For Vogue’s December issue, Harry Styles became the first dude to do the cover by himself, and in the photo shoot, he wears a couple of dresses and skirts, and those who consider King Louis VIX, Billy Porter, David Bowie, and Richard Simmons style icons were into it. But well, there were those who were really, really bothered like conservative commentator and Kanye West’s political sweetheart Candace Owens who let us all know that she probably rubs it to Gaston’s parts in Beauty and the Beast since Gaston is her opinion of the ideal man. Harry Styles in a dress made Candace Owens declare that we need to bring back “manly men.” Surprisingly, Harry Styles didn’t respond to what Candace Owens said by immediately replacing his dresses, ruffles, and skirts with a chest merkin, Pussy Juice cologne, a “Yeah, It Makes You Look Fat, Now Go Make Me A Sandwich, Woman” t-shirt, and Nascar-brand cargo pants. Instead, Harry responded with a banana and coffee filter sleeves!

Harry is Variety’s Hitmaker of the Year, and during the interview, he said words about his music, making movies, and the sight of him in a dress causing some conservatives to bury a pair of truck nuts since Harry Styles destroyed and killed the definition of masculinity. Variety brought up the stupid hate over Harry’s Vogue spread, including Candace oh-so-dramatically saying that society can’t exist without “strong men” and that “in the west, the steady feminization of our men at the same time that Marxism is being taught to our children is not a coincidence. It is an outright attack.” Harry pfft’d on Candace’s nonsense and said something that’d make a 19-year-old me stop and slow clap while shopping for coats at Wet Seal:

He shows no regret, however, when it comes to stylistic choices overall, and takes pride in his gender-agnostic portfolio, which includes wearing a Gucci dress on that Vogue cover— an image that incited conservative pundit Candace Owens to plead publicly to “bring back manly men.” In Styles’ view: “To not wear [something] because it’s females’ clothing, you shut out a whole world of great clothes. And I think what’s exciting about right now is you can wear what you like. It doesn’t have to be X or Y. Those lines are becoming more and more blurred.”

That wasn’t the “hit back” I was talking about in my headline. On Instagram, Harry used Candace’s words in the caption of a picture from his Variety interview of him nibbling on a banana while wearing something Sadie Shelton would wear to her daughter’s wedding:

Uh oh, Candace is going to lose it again, because REAL MEN don’t eat bananas like they’re sucking a dick! Everyone knows that the way a REAL MEN eats a banana is that he takes it outside, throws it up in the air, shoots it with his rifle, and catches the falling bits with his mouth while rifle-whipping the woodland creatures who are trying to get some too.
