Erika Jayne And Tom Girardi Have Been Sued For Allegedly Embezzling Money In Their Divorce

As Kyle Richards, Kathy Hilton, and Dorit Kemsley reportedly battle coronavirus, another member of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is battling embezzling accusations.

A month ago (on Election Day) Beverly Hills cast member Erika Girardi, AKA Erika Jayne, filed for divorce from her 81-year-old lawyer husband of over twenty years, Tom Girardi. There’s reportedly no prenup, but Erika asked the court for spousal support. At the time there were conspiracy theories that the divorce was somehow related to Tom’s many lawsuits (fraud, stealin’, scammin’, hookin’ [OK, not that last one]). Cut to today: Both Erika and Tom are being sued by Edelson PC, a class action firm, on behalf of Boeing plane crash victims. The lawsuit alleges their divorce is a sham, and the couple is actually embezzling settlement funds meant for the families of the victims who were killed in the 2018 Lion Air Flight 610 crash. Oh wow, this got dark fast.

The suit claimed that Tom and his law firm Girardi Keese “are on the verge of financial collapse and locked in a downward spiral of mounting debts and dwindling funds” and his “need to fund outrageous lifestyles for himself and his soon-to-be ex-wife Erika Jayne” is the reason for her spontaneous divorce filing earlier this year.

“While Erika publicly filed for divorce this month, on information and belief, that ‘divorce’ is simply a sham attempt to fraudulently protect Tom’s and Erika’s money from those that seek to collect on debts owed by Tom and his law firm GK,” the lawsuit alleged.

So they’re saying Erika and Tom are hiding the cash in a bullshit divorce. Interesting. The lawsuit also claims that this isn’t the first time Tom kept money meant for clients to himself. He allegedly:

“…continues to use that money to find his and Erika’s lavish lifestyle, release personal guarantees, pay down loans, route the money to friends and family and satisfy other outstanding debts.”

Well, Erika herself has bragged about spending $40,000 a month on “glam” for her music career/general beauty. This means all the plastic surgery, outfits, wigs, and makeup ring in at about half a million dollars per year. Erika even released a single about how XXPEN$IVE it is to be her, which is literally listed in the lawsuit as a reason the couple might want to embezzle the funds. See, this is why you never brag about money! Karma’s a bigger bitch than Lisa Vanderpump.

Another theory suggests that 49-year-old Erika did the math, realized she’d make the same amount of cash in a divorce settlement versus a widow’s inheritance, and got out early to enjoy her fleeting youth. According to online rumors the couple have allegedly been living separate lives for years, Tom’s had emotional affairs, and Erika’s been cheating with a married Scooter Braun, whom she met at a sex club (let’s underline that last one with an extra-large ALLEGEDLY).

Whew! The scandal. It’s strong with this one. But I’m still willing to bet Erika manages to avoid all of this in the next season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She doesn’t like people sticking their nose into her personal life, you see. Which totally tracks with her decision to star in a reality show.
