Katy Perry pissed people off over some recent MAGA-adjacent choices. After Joe Biden won the election, Katy offered an olive branch to the MAGAs of America and said that she called up her Trump-loving family members to offer them support. And over the weekend, Katy double-downed with the help of her dad, Keith Hudson. Keith has a message to tell you and a shirt to sell you!
Pedestrian says that Katy first caught some flack for hopping immediately to Twitter to say the “first thing” she did when the election was called was reach out to the people who voted for the guy who called Nazis “very fine people” and pretends he doesn’t really know what QAnon is. Because she was worried about them, I guess? The Mandalorian‘s Rahul Kohli told Katy that her tweet was a bad look:
Those people voted for a man who incited violence and didn’t care whether marginalised groups lived or died. THEY should be reaching out FIRST to apologise and that’s the bare minimum before there can be any talk about love and moving forward. https://t.co/a9k8jPZhgF

Then Katy posted a video from her father. Katy’s dad was promoting his t-shirt website where he sells a shirt to bring “unity” to the people of America. Katy’s dad says:
“Hey everyone, I’m Keith, and I want to ask you a question. Are you tired of the division that is destroying our country? Are you sick of losing your family and friends because they just don’t agree with your political views? Well, I am. And I know there’s a lot of other people out there that have the same feeling… and no matter what you believe at the end of the day, we are all Americans. And I designed this t-shirt because I want people to know that even though you may have a different religion or political view than I do, I still will be there for you and I still will consider you my friend, my neighbor and my fellow American.”
Clearly, this is for a niche market, and many did not vibe with the message.
After Katy got dragged for promoting her dad’s t-shirt line, a tweet from someone claiming to be Katy’s sister, Angela Hudson, said that the post was not from Katy herself but she was hacked by her father.
“Hi! This is Angela, Katy Perry’s older sister. I can confirm that Katy DID NOT tweet this. She unfortunately got hacked my our father and we are currently working on getting the account back and a restriction order. Katy is busy in quarantine at her home with Orlando and Daisy.”
That was immediately debunked as a scroll through the person’s timeline revealed they were clearly not Katy’s sister and the tweet from “Angela” has since been deleted. Meanwhile, Katy’s t-shirt promo is still up, so Katy must legitimately co-sign it.
Well honestly, if Katy Perry can be friends with someone as wicked and cruel as Ellen Degeneres what’s a few MAGA supporters?
