After Getting Cut For Breaking COVID Rules, Morgan Wallen Has Been Re-Booked On “Saturday Night Live”

Morgan Wallen can start shining up his best bolo tie and getting out the good mullet mousse because he’s finally gonna hit the Saturday Night Live stage. But please Morgan, don’t celebrate this good news by popping bottles with 40 to 50 of your closest friends. That’s what got you booted from the show the first time, remember?

Today, SNL revealed the hosts and musical guests for their December shows, and in that list was a name that we became familiar with last month, mostly for all the wrong reasons. At the beginning of October, it was revealed that the 45th season’s second episode would be hosted by Bill Burr, with musical guest, country singer Morgan Wallen. A few days before showtime, SNL was faced with a bit of a pandemic PR nightmare. Around the same time that it was revealed that SNL had worked around New York State’s COVID-19 rules by classifying their audience as paid employees, we also learned that Morgan had spent the previous weekend partying at a bar in Alabama and kissing a multitude of random college girls. That’s a big no-no if you’re trying to follow COVID-19 safety measures, like social distancing and mask-wearing. So Morgan was pulled from the show, and replaced by Jack White.

Morgan has been put back on the SNL schedule, for the December 5th show. Morgan will be the musical guest to Jason Bateman’s host.

This news shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, as Lorne Michaels told Willie Geist last month that they had planned to bring Morgan back again at another time (he just didn’t specify when). And in that time, Morgan has clearly had time to reflect. On his actions? Eh, I don’t know. But he did have plenty of thoughts about how if people can get together and celebrate Joe Biden’s Presidential win then he should be able to start booking shows again.

I’m sure he’s learned his lesson. At least this tweet would imply that? Morgan himself address the situation by tweeting, “Let’s try this again.

We need to be more specific here. Because the first time Morgan tried “this,” he also tried several mouths in Alabama. Please, Morgan, I’m going to need a verbal confirmation that you have read and understood the words in Studio 8H’s COVID-19 health and safety booklet before you arrive for rehearsals next week. Morgan, show me the masks you’ll be bringing with you, and remember – the sleeves you ripped off your flannel shirts aren’t an acceptable face-covering.
