Jennifer Lopez Got Accused Of Stealing Beyoncé’s Entire Vibe For Her American Music Awards Performance

The American Music Awards saw celebrities descend on the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles to sing and dance (and lip-sync) their hearts out. It was nice to see things returning to normal as the celebrities were actually in the same room together (albeit spaced out insanely among the huge venue). And also like normal, they were ripping each other off. Jennifer Lopez found herself to be in the hot seat and was the controversy of the evening over her potential thievery of aesthetics from one Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. BeyHive assemble to defend your Queen. And I’m talking about the actual bees!

Page Six says that censors were worried about Jennifer Lopez and Megan Thee Stallion‘s performances because they saw the Super Bowl (which was tame AF, what’s wrong with you prudes?!) and have seen literally anything Megan has ever done and were worried about the overt sexiness of a thick woman twerking. A woman? Overtly sexy?! The gods will rage!

JLo’s performance with Maluma only really had the censors nervous about the BeyHive because she didn’t just snatch Beyoncé’s wet hair from her Drunk In Love visuals but the whole performance. It was one part Beyoncé, one part Cell Block Tango, one part Flashdance–which was why I’m shocked I didn’t like it more. Maybe cause the song was so boring? But JenniYoncé Zeta-Jones killed it in the dancing department.

Megan made those censors earn their keep as they tossed up mutes for her lyrics right and left, or maybe she was just taking specific breaths. Regardless, I’m amazed we care about naughty words during a global disease but I guess people still want to maintain puritan nonsense during an actual catastrophe.

Justin Bieber wanted us to know that he’s a changed man-child with an “emotional” song about how it’s hard to grow up in the public eye and I guess that’s why he was an asshole for so long? Well as long as he’s not one now.

And Shawn Mendes borrowed a chemise from Camila Cabello and performed looking like Prince Eric after getting ship-wrecked.

Dua Lipa performed Levitating and really made sure to squeeze all the value possible out of the choreography from her music video. At the end of her performance, she ascends up to the heavens, which is honestly probably where the air had the least amount of coronavirus exposure.

BTS closed the show by performing Life Goes On and Dynamite at the Seoul Olympic Stadium:

It’s a good thing that they performed in South Korea and didn’t go to America to perform at the Microsoft Theater, because if they did and caught coronavirus, their fans, the A.R.M.Y., would definitely bring on WW3.
