Notorious Rivals Jeezy And Gucci Mane Had A Verzuz Battle And Things Got Tense
There was another Verzuz Battle on Instagram Live last night, this time pitting rap rivals, Jeezy and Gucci Mane, against one another. The two have had a long-time beef and Gucci actually killed a friend of Jeezy’s–labelmate, Pookie Loc–in 2005 when Pookie allegedly tried breaking into Gucci’s home, and Gucci shot him in self-defense. So things were expected to be tense and at times it was, but no fights broke out. There was an after-party at a nightclub during coronavirus surges across the planet though, so… Not sure if that’s better but it’s worse different.
Millions of people tuned in for the show which started late and went down at the Magic City strip club in Atlanta, GA. TMZ says that at the beginning of their battle, Miss Stacey Abrams the Queen who helped flip Georgia, dropped in to let the Atlanta audience know they should be equally as hyped for the Run-Off Verzuz. While this one was not rap-related and between two corrupt GOP demons from Hell and two people who aren’t that, everyone should be equally involved. She encouraged people to register to vote and get ready for the January Senate election. PS: She dropped in via video chat. Do you think Stacey Abrams is going to Magic City during a pandemic? Bitch…

Then the actual battle started and I mean it was a lot. There were thrones set up for both of them and Gucci showed up flexing a late-90s monochromatic ensemble.
Mfs said @gucci1017 came looking like James Carter on Rush Hour 😂😂 #verzuztv #verzuzbattle pic.twitter.com/mWmzy7i7vS

Lots of famous folk attended (I’m so glad corona ended!) like T.I., Rick Ross, Migos, Swizz Beatz, and Alicia Keys. Things only really got super dramatic when Gucci decided to play his diss track Truth which is all about shooting Pookie. But Jeezy handled it so well that I’m calling shenanigans. Jeezy said that after all these years Gucci was “still talking the same shit.” That he killed a guy? I–… okay: (via Pitchfork)
“When I said I wanted to do this shit for the culture, that’s what I wanted to do, n—a, I wanted to show you that the world care about what the fuck we got goin’ on because we are the culture. You feel me? Me and you. Where we came from. What we been through, n—a. Us. Me and you. All these kids out here doing what the fuck they do because they saw what went on with us, dog. So this shit ain’t about me, this shit ain’t about you.”
Jeezy then name-dropped various rappers who have been killed by gun violence like King Von, Nipsey Hussle, Pop Smoke, and Mo3. After serenading Gucci with more wokeness, Jeezy immediately–and I mean seamlessly–flowed into his song Get Ya Mind Right.

Obviously, that was planned. It had to be. The way he so flawlessly dropped from a politically correct dragging right into the song? But by the end, they did end their twenty-year beef and finished the night saying it was, “All love.”
They sorted out 20 year old beef 🔥🔥🔥Epic night for hip hop.#VERZUZ #verzuzbattle#guccivsjeezy #GucciManeVsJeezy pic.twitter.com/VCaW7fBfAm

And then they reminded the audience that the after-party is at a nightclub called Compound. So that’s gonna be a super-spreader. Well if my suspicions are correct and their whole event was coordinated this could just be more planning. They probably still hate each other. And Gucci did wish COVID on his enemies–so that’s a great way to do it.
