Lady Gaga Has Been Cast In Brad Pitt’s New Movie “Bullet Train”

Lady Gaga could have retired from acting after her showstopping performance in 2018’s A Star is Born, because really, that scene where she nervously ushered a drunk Jackson Maine offstage at the Grammys after he pissed himself is the definition of a career-high. Plus, how many more times can she basically play herself? Like playing a singer (A Star is Born), or a dramatic weirdo (American Horror Story). But Lady Gaga continues to commit hard to that singer-slash-actress title, and it sounds like she’ll be playing against type by appearing in an upcoming action thriller about assassins on a high-speed train in Tokyo.

Collider says that the film is called Bullet Train, which itself is an adaptation of Japanese novel Maria Beetle. The story is about several assassins on a Japanese Shinkansen train, aka those super-fast bullet trains that can travel 199 miles per hour. The film will be released by Sony and directed by David Leitch. Alongside Lady Gaga, the cast includes Brad Pitt, Joey King, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Zazie Beetz, Brian Tyree Henry, Andrew Koji, Masi Oka, and Michael Shannon. A film based on a Japanese novel, that’s set in Japan aboard an iconic piece of Japanese transportation technology, and not a single role for Scarlett Johansson? Strange.

Lady Gaga also landed a role in the Gucci biopic, as Maurizio Gucci’s wife Patrizia Reggiani, who hired a hitman who assassinated Gucci in 1995. That’s reportedly scheduled to begin filming in March, but Collider points out that it’s likely Bullet Train will be released first, thus being Lady Gaga’s acting follow-up to A Star is Born.

As for Lady Gaga’s role, it’s not known whether she’ll play an assassin or another character, but sources say that it sounds like she’ll have a smaller, supporting role. That could mean she’s playing someone’s wife, who has a couple lines at the beginning of the film, like, “Here honey, I packed your bag with a couple of sandwiches and about 4 or 5 deadly weapons. Have a nice day being an assassin!” One thing is for sure, and that’s that she’s definitely pushing to record a song for Bullet Train. And what a terrific Lady Gaga track that could be. All those lyrical sex metaphors for trains entering tunnels. And just think of the ass puns she could mine from the word assassin.
