TikToker Charli D’Amelio Lost Almost 1 Million Followers Thanks To A Video Of Her And Her Sister Acting Like Brats
In case you aren’t aware of Charli D’Aemlio, she’s a 16-year-old TikTok millionaire (it hurts to type that) who became famous by dancing on TikTok. Well, she and her 19-year-old sister, Dixie D’Amelio, who is also bland and famous, have gotten some flack for acting spoiled in a recent YouTube video. In fact, they got so much blowback that Charli, who was on her way to reach 100 million followers on TikTok, lost 1 million of them as of today.
Teen Vogue says that the video in question was uploaded to the family’s YouTube account and shows them having dinner with a mystery guest who turned out to be Beauty YouTuber, James Charles. In the video, private chef, Aaron May cooks for them all, and Charli and Dixie aren’t loving his food. They make looks at each other, but then the real drama comes when Dixie actually gets nauseated by some Chef Aaron-made snails and leaves to throw up. Charli also complains about not yet reaching 100 million followers within the span of one year, and James Charles quickly checks her:
TODAY IN AWKWARD: Charli D’Amelio complains about not getting 100M followers in 1 year. James Charles responds “Was the 95M not enough for you?” Things get pretty awkward. Dixie D’Amelio scrambles to end video. James takes over and does outro. Charli is left confused. pic.twitter.com/t13aTmbR2h

Here’s the full video if you can stomach it (pun totally intended):
People were quick to drag these two overpaid and privileged teenage girls for acting bratty. Imagine that! Bratty teenagers? And they’re rich? Shocking! People called them “embarrassing,” “ungrateful,” “brats,” and generally questioned the level of character these children were exhibiting. But what will really make Charli cry is that she’s lost 1 million followers and is even further away from achieving her lifelong dream of hitting 100 million followers.
Dixie tried to do some damage control and posted a TikTok where she says that she isn’t a spoiled brat and that her team set her up:
“I would never in any way wanna be taken as disrespectful, especially from an out-of-context 15-second clip… Basically, that clip, that wasn’t in the original video, is my team and chef Aaron May trying to convince me to try snail, knowing that I would have a reaction. I love chef, and I would never disrespect him in any way.”
There has been no official word from Charli, but she did post this a few days ago:
i truly cannot believe 99 million people are supporting me! i am so incredibly thankful for every single one of you!! you all have changed my life with all of the support and love you give to me!! thank you so very much!! 💕💕

I’m sure the TikTok audience will get over this, mostly because they’re tweens who have the memory retention of a goldfish and will find something else to care about more within the next hour. And hey, I’m sure another TikTok idiot will just throw some house party and take the heat of Charli. If we can expect anything it’s the overprivileged, especially an overprivileged teenager, to act a fool.
