Khloé Kardashian Swears Her Family Cares About Voting, As Kylie Jenner Pushes Makeup On Social Media

It’s  Day 3 of counting the votes from the 2020 US Presidential Election and there’s razor-sharp margins that are making people nervous. And some people have decided to go after famous types that they feel could have done more. Khloé Kardashian recently got caught in the krosshairs of such an accusation, but Khloé swears her family did the most to promote voting. Which would have been a somewhat believable argument had it not been for Kylie Jenner using her platform and social media influence to…push her makeup line.

This story requires a quick trip back in time to 2015, when Kim Kardashian and her family publicly endorsed Hillary Clinton, an endorsement that was mutually reciprocated. This time around, Kim was suspiciously silent when it came to endorsing a candidate. Even with her own husband running for President, Kim never publicly endorsed anyone. Lots of people figured that was because Kim had spent the better part of Trump’s presidency cozying up to him, because Aspiring Lawyer Kimberly is a prison reform advocate, and Trump can help get things done in terms of pardons and granting clemency. Also, Kim’s husband Kanye West is very good friends with Donald Trump. So it’s likely she didn’t endorse Joe Biden because she didn’t want to be on the receiving end of a stream of tweets from Trump where he accuses her of having a gross body. Sorry, again.

But then none of the Kardashians or Jenners endorsed Joe Biden. They didn’t endorse Trump either. But their voting activism pretty much started and ended with a weak suggestion to get out and vote, or Kim’s generic, “I Voted!” selfie.

And as the votes were being counted yesterday, Khloé offered up some more voting-themed content from her position on the middle of the fence, by saying she was anxious and that everyone should go meditate to calm down, then promoting a lukewarm message that everyone will get through this with love.

BuzzFeed says that’s around the time Khloé’s message of PoSi-ViBeS OnLy was challenged by a Twitter user who accused Khloé and her family of not getting fully political with their huge audience. Khloé fired back that her family did EVERYTHING to encourage people to vote.

While Kim didn’t endorse a candidate, she did like a few pro-Biden/pro-Kamala Harris tweets in the past. So yeah, that Twitter user can eat their words. Kim liked tweets. What more do you want from the woman? And really, what more can you do after the polls have been closed? In the Kardashian-Jenner family, that’s when you kick back and start shilling crap nobody needs. Page Six says that shortly before midnight on election night, Kylie Jenner tweeted a push to buy the Kylie x Kendall makeup collection she did with her sister Kendall Jenner.

Unsurprisingly, a whole lot of people informed her that now was not the time to try to sell lipsticks and highlighters. Basically, the internet turned into Kourtney Kardashian informing Kim that there were bigger things going on than her diamond earring.

And over on Instagram, where she was also shilling makeup, the comments were just as pointed. via Page Six:

“We in the middle of an election”

“Kylie, there is an election going on. I think this could’ve waited?”

“Girl this ain’t the time to be promoting your brand…”

I always hate to defend this family, but we cannot get mad at Khloé and Kylie. After all, they did use their influence to speak up about important matters in the way that matters to them. Khloé endorsed a party (Kim’s tone-deaf million-dollar birthday party), while Kylie enthusiastically endorsed a campaign (the Kylie Cosmetics Fall 2020 Campaign co-starring another one of her sisters). And we don’t need to keep counting – we know they both won tons of attention.
