Filming Has Stopped On Olivia Wilde’s “Don’t Worry Darling” After Someone Tested Positive For COVID-19

Olivia Wilde was so excited for the start of filming on Don’t Worry Darling, that she had a little countdown calendar to remind her what day that would happen. The bad news is, it looks like she’s going to have to print off a new countdown calendar, and this time it will notify when it’s safe enough to return to set without the threat of catching COVID.

Deadline reports the least-shocking news to come from a film set since Hollywood returned back to work, which is that someone tested positive on a film set for COVID-19 and caused filming to be temporarily shut down. It’s not known who involved with the filming of Don’t Worry Darling caught coronavirus. The film stars Harry Styles (who replaced Shia LaBeouf), Florence Pugh, Chris Pine, Gemma Chan, KiKi LayneNick Kroll, Dita Von Teese, and Olivia in a small part (her biggest part is directing the whole thing). Only a few days ago, we saw pictures of everyone on set in Los Angeles, and it looked as though all the proper COVID protections were being observed. Of course, masks, tests, and staying six feet apart are no guarantee that everyone will stay COVID-free.

New Line confirmed the positive COVID case and said that it shut down production immediately. All the actors have reportedly isolated in quarantine. New Line also said that the positive COVID case was caught during routine testing. A source tells Deadline that it wasn’t Harry, Florence, or any other members of the principal cast, but someone who was in, “close proximity” to them.

Filming is on hold for a standard 14 days to verify if anyone else was exposed, and to ensure a safe environment when filming resumes. Deadline points out that cast and crew aren’t likely worried about their 14-day break, because this is a big studio movie, which means they have enough money to afford a temporary COVID pause in production.

We know it’s not a cast member but a crew member who caught corona. So I’m sure that Harry Styles’ publicist is likely very glad that it’s been confirmed to be a crew member, and not a vague “unspecified person of interest that has made contact.” Because that publicist would have had the world’s busiest day if Tracee Ellis Ross suddenly revealed she was recovering from corona.
