Prince William Might Have Just Been A Little Sick With COVID-19

We recently learned that back in April, Prince William joined his father Prince Charles in the Royals Who Tested Positive for Coronavirus Club. Sources claimed that Prince William didn’t want to worry anyone, so he kept his diagnosis a secret, despite the fact that he was allegedly “hit pretty hard” with COVID symptoms. We now know a little bit more about William’s bout of corona, and it might not have been nearly as bad as originally rumored.

It was previously reported that poor William was really sick, but he still kept working. But sources who spoke to Vanity Fair have a different story to tell.

One source close to the royal family denied the Sun’s claim that William was hit hard by the illness. “My understanding was that he was not bed-ridden and actually coped pretty well with the virus, working for most of the time he had it,” the insider said. “It was no secret among the family, but William didn’t want it getting out because he didn’t want to worry the nation.”

Another source tells Vanity Fair that the priority at the time was keeping Queen Elizabeth safe, which she was, and that she was very worried that both her son and grandson got sick with corona. But, she was “relieved that they suffered only minor symptoms.”

As for the possible timeline of when William was sick, William took a seven-day break between April 9th to the 16th, when he didn’t take any phone calls. So, William was sick with COVID-19, and possibly sick enough to take a week off work, but that some sources say he wasn’t exactly sick enough for Duchess Kate to start cosplaying as Florence Nightingale, sitting at his bedside with a candle, a damp forehead cloth, and a prayer.

We might eventually learn the truth about William’s diagnosis if he feels like he needs to defend himself against the people who are wondering why he didn’t inform everyone that he got sick. Royal journalist Robert Jobson has accused the Royal Family of lying to the public about William’s health, and wonders what else they might be lying about:

Joining Robert Jobson was Joe Little of Majesty magazine, who wondered if keeping William’s diagnosis a secret wasn’t a “questionable” move. Others had a problem with William not disclosing his COVID-19 status while still going out in public. Or, they took issue with the Royal Family suddenly being all about privacy, when in the past Prince Harry has gotten shit for wanting to keep some things about his life private.

I’m sure the Royal Family had a very reasonable, not-secretive reason for why they didn’t let everyone know that William had coronavirus, whether severe or mild. Around the time William allegedly caught COVID, The Queen addressed the UK and talked about how everything was going to be fine just as long as everyone stays masked up and inside. So maybe that’s why they didn’t say shit about William being sick. Because one future King sick with COVID is bad, but two future Kings sick with COVID is panic time. And let’s face it, she’d already just delivered a speech about things being not-great, family-wise.
