Lady Gaga Gave A Shout Out To Her Old “Pennsylvania Guy” Taylor Kinney At Joe Biden’s Rally Last Night

November 3, 2020 / Posted by:

As promised, Lady Gaga was the closing night act of Joe Biden’s final presidential campaign rally in his home state of Pennsylvania. Joe is from Scranton, and if he really wanted to go full-on hometown, he should’ve brought out every single cast member of The Office on stage. I don’t know what they would have done once they got up there. Sang the Dunder-Mifflin jingle that Darryl Philbin wrote while Dwight fired beets out of a cannon? This is why I’m not a campaign manager.

Lady Gaga said her connection to Pennsylvania is that she used to live in Lancaster. And just in case you still weren’t convinced of Lady Gaga’s Pennsylvania connection, she reminded everyone that she used to date Taylor Kinney, who is from Lancaster.

Gaga and Taylor started dating in 2011, and they got engaged in 2015. A year later they called it quits, and moved on, sometimes with seemingly petty results. But clearly everything is good between Lady Gaga and Taylor, because she had nice things to say about him at Joe Biden’s rally. E! News says that during Joe Biden’s drive-in rally in Pittsburgh last night, gave a shout out to Taylor:

“Did you all know I used to live here in Lancaster, Pennsylvania? Listen, anybody here from Lancaster? Well, I was engaged to a man from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I know, I know. It didn’t work out. I loved him so much. It just did not work out. But I still love my Pennsylvania guy. I love Joe! So Joe’s my new Pennsylvania guy. And I love nothing more than this moment, for this time, for you and I!”

And then Lady Gaga sang, “You and I.” We call that a seamless segue. Also, fun fact: Lady Gaga met Taylor Kinney while filming the music video for, “You and I.” It’s almost as though Lady Gaga knew the internet detectives would dissect that song choice, because she made sure to acknowledge her current boyfriend, Michael Polansky.

“To my boyfriend that’s here tonight, I’m so sorry I had to do the whole ‘Pennsylvania, and I dated a guy here’ thing. I love you so much, but it’s true.”

She also brought more of that Fuck Trump energy she’s been bringing on Twitter:

Lady Gaga subtly dropping that little Pennsylvania tidbit about her ex-fiance was some nice crowd work, even if it did end on an awkward note about how they’re not together anymore. But she swooped in with that save about Joe being her new Pennsylvania guy. I just think she could have pushed it further. Why not really connect with the crowd by naming all the guys she loves from Pennsylvania? “Shout out to the crew of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. You guys like that show, right? And…let’s see, oh! Don Draper when he was still Dick Whitman? Pretty sure he’s from PA. And the Eagles. Go birds!
