Erika Jayne Of “Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills” Filed For Divorce From Tom Girardi
Well, well, well. Look who’s getting divorced and broke the news on Election Day in the hopes that no one would notice. Nice try, Erika Jayne, but this is exactly the kind of vapid distraction my anxiety was fiending for.
49-year-old Erika Girardi (pop alias: Erika Jayne) of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills filed for divorce from her 81-year-old husband, Tom Girardi. Tom is a big-time lawyer, best known for representing the real-life Erin Brockovich. They met when Tom frequented the West Hollywood restaurant Chasen’s, where Erika was a server. The two married in 1999. Erika has a 27-year-old son, a police officer named Tommy, from her first marriage, but she and Tom never procreated. Insert old dick joke.
Erika released a statement, via E! Online:
“After much consideration, I have decided to end my marriage to Tom Girardi,” the reality star exclusively tells E! News, “This is not a step taken lightly or easily. I have great love and respect for Tom and for our years and the lives we built together.”
“It is my absolute wish to proceed through this process with respect and with the privacy that both Tom and I deserved,” she adds. “I request others give us that privacy as well.”
TMZ adds that it’s not clear if Erika is asking for spousal support, but since Tom is a lawyer, they probably had a prenup.
If you watch this crap, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that their 21-year marriage fizzled out. Despite Erika claiming their sex life was “OK” (what an endorsement!), these two had all the sexual chemistry of the Orange Buffoon and Robo-Melania, and Tom’s money is in danger with all of the lawsuits he’s dealing with. But I am surprised Erika went ahead and filed. Erika does not like showing weakness, especially when it’s to do with Tom. At last season’s reunion, she revealed he hadn’t seen her perform as Roxy Hart in Chicago on Broadway. The reunion before that, Erika let it slip that Tom hadn’t read her biography. Both times Erika acted like this was completely normal husband-wife behavior, and how daaare anyone question it.
On the bright side, Erika finally got herself an actual storyline other than “filthy rich fashion ice queen with gay glam squad”. But my money’s on her refusing to talk about it. Some of these Beverly Hills betches act like they’re “above” airing their dirty laundry in front of the cameras. Even though they’re on a reality show. About their personal lives. Yeah, I don’t get it either.
